“Great for families -- lots to do!”
Reviewed 30 August 2006

My family of 4 spent four fun days here at the end of August. We had a three bedroom two-level condo. The unit definitely could use some updates in furnishings and linens, but was spotlessly clean. It had a full kitchen, 2 cable tvs, and a VCR/DVD player. We paid extra for air conditioning but did not need it. All units are no-smoking. Included in the cost is a wide range of activities: two hrs a day of bike rental, daily rental of a kayak, paddle boat or canoe on the small pond there, indoor/outdoor pools and gym equipment, 9 holes of golf, a ride up a mountain on a ski lift and a choice of events at the local activity center. For an additional fee, one can skate at the ice rink when public skating is allowed. There is a skateboard park too. For rainy days, there are Video/DVD rental shops, a bead shop to make bracelets, etc, arcades and and the extensive indoor athletic club. (Internet access is limited -- you can pay $4 for 15 minutes of access at a computer in the office, but are advised not to try to access a toll-free number dial-up service from your room as it will not be recognized by the phone line.) Town Square Condos are above the "village" which has many shops (and a small supermarket) and restaurants. We tried three of the restaurants in the Village and were not impressed. At the Coyote Grill, at the Athletic Center, the food was good but service terrible. We brought a lot of our own food and were glad we did. Our children are old enough to be quite independent in the village and they really enjoyed getting to be on their own so much.

  • Liked — Something for everyone in the way of activities, and safe for children/teens to go off on their own.
  • Disliked — Furniture and linens were somewhat worn and shabby, as were the halls, stairwells.
  • Tips/Secrets — Restaurants not great and it's a long drive to those outside the village -- bring food!

Four nights 2/A, 6/C.

Overall nothing to complain about. Average to slightly above average.
All facilities we used were available when desired and the grounds were neat clean.
Stayed at TownSquareCondos. Would not do that again as there are more than "one flight of stairs". Also, a little to noisy at night. Nothing terrible, but we like it a little quieter.
Golf course OK. Needs some work.
W.V. is surrounded by 700K acres of national forest. Just beautiful.

After having a home here for years and moving I was so excited to see the Valley again and couldn't believe how run down they let this area become. The new owners haven't put a penny into the place since I moved. The town square is run down and the parking is full of pot hole. What ever happened to their "master plan"? I was so disapointed when I started out with so much excitement to see the place again. The owner of this place should sell and let someone who loves the place put it back in order.

Waterville Valler USED to be a great family vacation spot. Unfortunately, the town square is run down, the athletic center is a joke (outdoor pool, steam room broken, sharp broken tiles in steamroom, etc. a real mess), the golf course is cut up and is under construction and months behind schedule, etc. Lots of hockey tournements means limited open skating time and tons of obnoxious hockey kids running around the place. The parking lots are like driving the burma road. Firworks no longer done on Sat nite.

Overall, it is apparent that the owners of this once pleasant resort have let things go to the point of really negatively impacting the experience. This weekend there were tons of bus groups bringing foreign tourists, perhaps due to the Boston crowd falling off. VERY dissapointing. (May 05)

My mother has had timeshare in Waterville Valley for years. Every time we have gone up, being either summer or winter, there is always great activities going on. The skiing and skating rink are wonderful for the cold weather, and for the warm weather, you have a lake to swim in, paddle boats and canoes. Also in the summer, they have horseback riding, golf course, and they are close to places on the Kangamangus highway to go swim and play in the River. They have a wonderful Town Square that is really cute with a TERRIFIC breakfast/coffee shop on the second level with it overlooking the lake. The sports center is nearby with tennis, raquetball, swimming, weightroom. Also, the restaraunts in the area are very good. The subs at the deli are very good. I would recommend it for not only a romantic, peaceful couple getaway, I would highly recommend it for family vacations too. All in all, I have always been pleased with our visits to Waterville Valley and Mountain Sun Condominiums. The Condos are very spacious, 3 floors, double sided fireplace, master bedroom has it's own floor with nice jacuzzi tub with skylight. Great vacationing!! Highly recommended.
