“Great place”
Reviewed 27 October 2013 via mobile

My hubby and a friend of our decided to walk the rail trail nearby but decided to get breakfast first. The Kitchen is a cute place for breakfast, lunch and dinner just five minutes walk away. The building looks small but it's like Pandora's box in there!! The service was great and the good delicious! We sat outside as it was a beautiful fall morning but there are plenty of seats inside too. Not only do they do food but they sell quirky gifts which you can browse at whilst waiting. I would definitely go here again and again. Awesome place!

“You gotta stop & eat here. Period.”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Quaint on approach, your GPS search for a restaurant while barreling up 93 has steered you wrong before so you're not really sure about pulling over or just jamming back to the highway. I mean, it looks nice enough. Kinda country, and after all, you're hungry. So you give it a shot.

Best decision you made all day!

Fun group of people running this little wayside cottage-cum-kitchen, Jon and Kay Normington's converted 1880's General Store is now home to a country store with a mini restaurant. Or maybe a restaurant with a Country Store. Yeah. That. "NEWBIE!" they yell and ring an old bell upon hearing it's my first time in. But you know what? They really seemed to enjoy showing off the menu to someone new, so they have fun with it.

Eat outside in the nice New Hampshire sunshine or inside on nippy days, there is indoor seating. You may elect to feast on such home made fare such as Broccoli Parmesan Cream sippin' soup (or maybe Root Vegetable, or Hungarian Beef and Vegetable Stew), or maybe you'd like to enjoy a full turkey dinner in a hoagie roll (what I had), or maybe a Grilled Chicken Caprese Sandwich with Tomato, Basil, Balsamic Glaze and Fresh Mozzarella on Herbed Parmesan Foccacia Roll.

Lunch menus are fluid with daily specials and chefs concoctions intertwined delicious sounding full on dinners Thursdays and Fridays like the Surf and Turf Seared 12oz. Sirloin Steak Topped with 3 Jumbo Scampi Shrimp Served with Bacon and Garlic Mashed Potato. Jon knows his way around a kitchen.

In my opinion it's pretty d*mn good!

“The real deal!”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

Can't say enough good things about this place! We come as often as we can, usually after walking, skiing or biking the Windham section of the rail trail. Great food, family friendly service and very laid back. it's where our kids and their friends all ask to go when they come home from college. It's very reasonably priced too. Oh and everything is made from scratch, at least it tastes that way!!

“Excellent breakfast”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

When I walked inside, I wasn't expecting much. It's a tiny place, and certainly eclectic. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. The food was very inexpensive, and very good. The specials are creative. Service was quick and friendly. I'd definitely go back. Seemed very popular with those biking the rail trail.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 9 February 2013

I've been here several times, both for breakfast and lunch, as well as a few trips for ice cream with the kids. The location right off of the rail trail is perfect to grab a treat or a snack after a bike ride. Most recently, I had lunch here with a friend. I had the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich, it was delicious. The ciabatta bread was soft and warm. I also bought a quart of Roasted Chicken Orzo soup to go for $8. It was also delicious. It appears as though most of their food is home made, and everything we have tried there has been very good. They have a few outdoor tables when the weather is nice, and a small seating area indoors among lots of country decor. I arrived early for lunch (11:30) and it was relatively quiet, but I was amazed at the number of people who came through over the next hour to either take out or eat there. Evidently this hidden gem is not so hidden anymore!
