We spent two nights at the Lake Motel this July as we were in the area for a wedding.
Several other members of the wedding party had also reserved here, but at least two couples had their reservations cancelled by the Motel at the last minute, for not good reason (it appears that Mitt Romney was in the area with his entourage, so there was much speculation that they were kicked out to make room for them. Yet another reason not to vote for him...)
In our case, we had reserved a large room in the Lake House, but then when I called to warn them that we would be arriving late in the evening, they told us that in fact they had moved us to a smaller room, in a brand new building that still smelt of glue and saw dust...
The website is utterly unhelpful, and often the motel could not be reached, or you reached the owner who was somewhere else and did not have access to his reservation book. Though there was a computer at reception, some of friends were told that all reservations are kept in a hand-written book, and that they couldn`t find there name there, despite the reservation having previously been accepted.
Yes, there are upsides. The location is splendid, and we regretted no having time to go swimming or rowing on the lake. The room managed to fit five of us, with the help of a roll-in bed, but it was tight. There is a great restaurant for breakfast just next door.
Nevertheless, beware, they are totally disorganized and unreliable.
