We stayed two nights in June, to see our son and his family who were renting on Lake Wentworth. We picked the Lake Motel based on good TripAdvisor reviews, and we weren't disappointed. The room was clean, good-sized, and very adequate for a base of operations. Our 14 year old Labrador retriever was able to stay with us, for a small extra fee. We all liked the vast expanse of lawn sloping down to Crescent Lake, where there were lots of chairs and a fine little beach. The Lake Motel is a good choice for a family stay close to everything in the Wolfeboro/Lake Wentworth area. Stay there or be square!

Room Tip: Room 1 or 2, just north of the office, on the lake side.

This was our first time staying at the Lake Motel though we have spent many years visiting Lovely Wolfeboro. We stayed in the old building with a beautiful view of Lake Crescent. Our room was simple, clean and all we needed. We were so busy swimming, watching loons, Kayacing, sunbathing and visiting all the sights that the Wolfeboro area has to offer we never even turned the tv on. The lake is so clean and refreshing with two beaches, a raft to swim out to, two docks to fish from and even a gazebo to escape the sun.We stayed for five days and were offered a frigerator which really came in handy. Coffee to my delight was ready every morning at 7:00. The owner David was always very pleasant and Janna at the desk was a JEM.A restaurant a few steps away offered breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was delicious, fast and friendly service. They even had great take out ice cream! If you love swimming, boating, eating, fishing, and just plain relaxing this is NH at its best!! The town of Wolfeboro is a delight!

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room with a view!

We go to the Lake Motel several times a year and have done so for many years. I, for one, think that it is good business for a proprietor to "take care of his regulars." why else do we as consumers give anyone our return business if not to feel welcomed back? No one goes to a beautiful location like this with expectation of a 4 star hotel. The pleasure of the trp is found in the breathtaking scenery, immaculate lake, and a family atmosphere.

I volunteer every year at the Huggns St. Hospital Fair...have previously stayed at a now defunct motel and at the Wolfeboro Inn .. our last two experiences at the Inn with this totally unprofessional and rude staff were horrid...last year we were fortunate enough to get a last minute reservation at The Lake Motel and found David to be a delight...the room we stayed in was old and needed updating but was clean...this year we stayed in the Lake House which was a delight...again David and his staff were friendly and hospitable..my husband and I are looking forward to our stay there next August...

We spent two nights at the Lake Motel this July as we were in the area for a wedding.

Several other members of the wedding party had also reserved here, but at least two couples had their reservations cancelled by the Motel at the last minute, for not good reason (it appears that Mitt Romney was in the area with his entourage, so there was much speculation that they were kicked out to make room for them. Yet another reason not to vote for him...)

In our case, we had reserved a large room in the Lake House, but then when I called to warn them that we would be arriving late in the evening, they told us that in fact they had moved us to a smaller room, in a brand new building that still smelt of glue and saw dust...

The website is utterly unhelpful, and often the motel could not be reached, or you reached the owner who was somewhere else and did not have access to his reservation book. Though there was a computer at reception, some of friends were told that all reservations are kept in a hand-written book, and that they couldn`t find there name there, despite the reservation having previously been accepted.

Yes, there are upsides. The location is splendid, and we regretted no having time to go swimming or rowing on the lake. The room managed to fit five of us, with the help of a roll-in bed, but it was tight. There is a great restaurant for breakfast just next door.

Nevertheless, beware, they are totally disorganized and unreliable.
