I truly have mixed feelings about this motel. First the negative, and I think it is a large one, security. We stayed in the main building and after checking in I asked the young lady what the access code was for the front door. Turns out the doors, front and sides, are never locked. There is nothing to prevent anyone from entering off hours when the desk is unattended. Frankly, had I known this, I would not have stayed. Her response was that the staff was "nearby" was not sufficient. Whoever owns this place really needs to reconsider security and safety.

Beyond that, the motel is older, but our room was ok. It was older but clean enough and compared to other hotels in the area, very affordable. But, the old adage that you get what you pay for is true.

The young lady at the desk was pleasant, the price was right, etc., but I just wasn't comfortable. We stayed one night. If you decide to stay, just be aware of the entirety of the setting and then decide.

We recently stayed in this motel. When we opened the door to our spacious room and looked through the window we almost fainted - outside was a green lawn that led down to a gorgeous lake. The light and colors were just right - the leaves were all changing and the air was crisp. Our room was a big room, with two twin comfortable beds. There was a big, super modern microwave and frig. The bathroom was big and the sink outside of the bathroom in a separate space. We could have stayed forever - and loved Wolfeboro and the gorgeous lake. The owners are friendly and told me that they will be rebuilding the motel and painting and refurnishing the part that we were staying in - although - it was nice the way it was. There is coffee in the lobby and you can always pick up supplies at the two local supermarkets - thus, saving money on restaurants - and this way you can have breakfast in bed and enjoy seeing the sun come up over the lake. We will be back!

Room Tip: Things will be changing - thus, it will be even better - so lucky you who gets to stay in the newer...

We visited last year and liked it enough to return for a longer stay this year. The hosts are warm and friendly, the motel room we asked for was set aside for us when we called. Immaculate rooms and so quiet and peaceful in late September. Our little 5 pound Yorkshire Terrier was in heaven galloping around the lush lawns and on the beach. It was sunny but a bit too breezy to stay outside for too long, but the room opens onto the lawn which slopes down to the beach so your large window has that beautiful lake view as you sit in large comfy chairs to watch the scenery or read etc. Housekeeping room has microwave, frig, freezer, coffee maker, dishes. silverware etc. Credit cards taken. Use of the boats and life jackets---canoe, row, paddle, pontoon---but too windy for us that one day we did not have something planned and could have boated.. We are so pleased with the hosts and this motel and Lake House that it is now our permanent vote for best place to stay in Wolfeboro, NH. and our permanent anniversary get away each year. Go. You will love it.

Room Tip: Room 105 is our choice. Quieter. Pull up to front door, walk in, continue through large housekeeping...

Only managed 1 night but we were made most welcome in this beautiful location with perfect facilities. We could hardly believe the view from the room window but were able to make use of the complimentary boats moored by the lake. Next time we will stay longer an dso should you.

The grounds around the lake were very nice and so was the lady who checked us in. However, we stayed in a building that must have had a leaky roof because the mold/mildew was so bad we could hardly breathe (and this was the third room we were shown). There was also blood stains on the bathroom wall, and though we stayed in a large suite, we couldn't wait to leave this place. I was shocked that TripAdvisor reviewers had given this place such high ratings. Maybe those people stayed in a different portion of the motel or are used to low-grade motels, but we will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Avoid the suites, that is where we stayed!

We originally had reservations elsewhere in Wolfeboro but were so disappointed with the accommodations we decided not to stay. (Wolfeboro Inn - 0 stars) Anyway, it was late in the afternoon, we had just finished a long drive from Quebec City, we didn't want to drive any further, we didn't know what we were going to do. At the other end of town on the other side of the road we found The Lake Motel. It was the most beautiful spot, right on the lake with the most beautiful views. There's a gazebo right on the water, a dock, boats to use and half the money that we were going to spend at the other place. We were upgraded to the newer building (no xtra charge) that have little kitchenettes in the room. It was terrific. The owners were so nice and recommended a really nice place for dinner. The whole experience could not have been more positive. What could have been a disaster turned out to be the best thing that could have happened.

We stayed for 3 nights in September 2013. It is in a great location on a small lake (next to the big lake Winnepesaukah). Lots of boating options supplied by the motel (kayaks, canoes, etc.) which we took advantage of, and were of good quality. The manager was very helpful, generous and accommodating. There is a new building (2 stories) with more expensive rooms, and an older building. The rooms in the new building have kitchenettes and all have a view of the lake. In the older building, only half of the rooms have a view. We recommend paying the extra for a view. It's worth it.
