We were very excited to find OFF THE HOOK and enjoy a tasty, made to order lunch there on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The staff was friendly. The establishment is geared to take out......but there are several family sized picnic tables immediately adjacent that were perfect for a lazy Friday afternoon lunch. (We had tried on a weekend evening.......but the 'live band' and the crowd lined up for the seafood made us take a u-turn. Timing is part of the deal......as it is a 'first come' set up. BYOB is a bonus.......should you decide to make a dinner time trip.
But the food is the reason to go. A tender, lightly fried, fresh flounder sandwich with two plump jersey tomato slices, some lettuce and tartar......absolutely yummy. Lobster tacos for "the Mrs." Met with roaring approval. Junior opted for a pulled pork sandwich.......(wasn't feeling the seafood hunger at the moment.....) and "hey MIKEY !!!!! He likes it !!!!"......he proceeded to clean plate club status.
All in all a splendid lunch visit.....and a worthwhile stop if you're headed up to kick around "Old Barney".....or do some casting into the channel.
Reasonable prices, delicious food. Put it on your list of places to check out on LBI.
