Description: When we boast that there is something for everyone, it's not without merit. There are classic items and ones that are completely original and unique. And then there are the wings... A lot of places talk a good buffalo wing, but the "Chegg" as it is now commonly known, truly delivers. The wings are big, juicy and available in 17 sauces, both Original Breaded, or Naked. The Chicken or the Egg has become know locally and Nationally for these big beauties. And best of all, the whole menu (breakfast too) is available 24 hours a day (in season). But for us, it's not just about the food. It's about family. It's about camaraderie. It' s about good times. So come io in and join the family. Join the fun. You'll be happy you did. Oh, and sorry about the lines. People dig us. But it' s worth the wait.

“Use the wait to reconnect with your family”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

If you're going to the "Chegg" you're going to wait, b/c as other reviewers noted its crowded for a reason....the food is good. Buffalo chicken anything is good stuff, highly recommend their omelet or wrap. We've been going here for over a decade and have yet to be disappointed, the menu has something for everyone. Even my vegetarian wife enjoys herself at the Chegg.

The wait. I kind of like it for this reason, it forces your family to be in one spot and on our beach vacations it can be hard to catch up with a pack of teenagers. So enjoy the wait, put your phones away, Candy Crush can wait.

“More hype than quality”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

Went here with family for breakfast while on vacation. It was too expensive for mediocre food. The home fries were dried out, obviously sitting around for a time; not fresh. The blueberry pancakes had very few blueberries in them. There are so many other places to get a good breakfast at less of a cost on the island. I would recommend this place only for the wings, if you like that kind of stuff. Gets very crowded, but I can't figure out why.

“Back for the first time in year and glad nothing has changed”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

It had been 7 years since we (the family) visited the chicken or the egg and we were glad there was no difference in our experience considering the damage that was done during Hurricane Sandy. You would never know it by looking at the building from the outside or inside. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner during our stay and in both instances, we were in/out in 45min. Granted it was not crowded at those times (we got in before the dinner rush). They know how to get you in/out so you don't spend your day eating rather than enjoying the beach.

Dinner: Got there around 4pm. If you want to avoid lines, you have to get there before 4pm (in season) otherwise the lines start to form and the wait can be significant. They are open 24hrs during the summer. I ordered a half rack of ribs they they were very good. The ribs were meatier when compared ribs I have had a BBQ joints in other towns/states. We also got an appetizer of wings. How can you go the CHEGG (Short for Chicken or the Egg) and not have their meaty wings. We preferred the original style when compared to the naked version. Got a mild sauce and was just the right amount of heat. You can take out hotter sauces, which my son did for some take out wings. Prices were what you would expect for the beach this time of the year. Only issue I had was the parking as there is limited parking in this area. Had to park around the corner on 2nd street, but it s short half block walk. However, during peak time, you may need to park much further away.

Breakfast: Just as efficient, in/out in 45min. Breakfast was more than enough and was able to get wings to go (at 7:30am) and they brought them just as we were finishing up. Waiter kept the coffee mug full.

If we ever go back to the LBI again, we will be back, no doubt.

“great variety at a great price”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We chose this restaurant because it was highly recommended by trip advisor and had a menu with a great variety of foods. We were warned about the wait of 1 1/2 hours, which was sadly true, but found a we around this by using the app "no wait".

Meals ordered at our table varied from chicken pot pie to Kobe burgers to fried shrimp. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals and the bill came to $92 for 6 people before tip. Highly recommend!!!
