“Nice step into history well done for a small historical site”

The Grover Cleveland Birthplace
Reviewed 30 April 2013

This is one of those places that we have meant to stop in for years, and finally did. We were happy we did; the place where Cleveland lived for a time is a step back into time; the volunteers who run it deserve a lot of credit. In addition to the several period rooms from the late 1800s that look the way they did then, they have also amassed a very nice collection of Cleveland memorabilia on display in one of the rooms. It will take you maybe an hour to see it all, and it is well worth it!

This house made for an interesting presentation of one of America's lesser known Presidents. From Cleveland's younger days as a Pastor's son to his rise toward the Presidency, the information presented revealed not only a great deal about Cleveland, but also about the nation as a whole at that time. It is worth a stop if you have time.

Hands down - the docent. Passionate and knowledgeable and engaging. We have visited at least 4 times over the years and learn something new every time.

Really nothing special. Not really a place to take your kids. More of a drive-by site.

The only US President to have served two non-consecutive terms was born here. The National Park Service Employee who manages the site and runs the tours here is a real professional. She is truly conscientious about her work, her knowledge of the site and the characters she is teaching about, and about making every visitor feel welcome, informed, and entertained. She is a delight. Don't miss this gem of a destination.
