Owner description: Cooper River Distillers is the first legal distillery in Camden, NJ ever! We began producing Petty’s Island Rum in April of 2014, and added Driftwood Dream Spiced Rum, Rye Oak Reserve Aged Rum, and Silver Fox Rye to the lineup in early 2015. Our latest innovation is our Single Run Series Whiskey and Cooper River Rye Whiskey which are real treats if you can find them! Our Jersey-proud Copper & Vine Garden State Brandy debuted in the summer of 2016, and Cooper River Bourbon Whiskey is aging now with likely release set for February 2017. All of our spirits are hand-crafted from scratch in downtown Camden, New Jersey, and unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else.

Michael,
Thanks for your feedback - sorry it wasn't what you were looking for, but we actually pride ourselves on the laid-back, garage like setting. We are a production distillery, so our facility is in fact in an actual auto-garage - the "Brakes Alignment Paint" signs are still up over the door, and we think it all makes for a unique environment to enjoy our incredible craft cocktails!

cheers
james

Rum in Camden, NJ??? You betcha. Cooper River Distillers is located in an old auto repair space. It doesn't look like much but the rum they produce is smooth and flavorful. They are open for tastings and to serve their rum punch. I enjoy rum punch but very few places make a good one - Cooper River does. Fresh juices, simple syrup and rum. Yum. I will warn you that a second one seems like a good idea but better to order a second one for two and share it. This rum packs a whallop. They provide tours of their process and offer some bottles for sale. Know that this is a small batch place and often times they are sold out at the distillery but bottles are available in some stores. The distillery is an easy walk from the River Line and PATCO and has lots of area parking. Fun, low key and tasty.

Yes, there's a distillery in Camden and they make some pretty awesome rum. While it may not have a lot of "curb appeal" being that it's in an old auto body shop, James and the folks at Cooper River Distillers have created some really drinkable rums. My favorite is the Rye Oak Reserve which tastes more like a whiskey. Their cocktails are creative and even with 2-3 bartenders you might have to wait in a line to get a drink. Really enjoyed their single run whiskey which I'm told every batch tastes different. Anyway, park on Federal or Market and you're just a half block away. Go have a good time!
