Every beach vacation involves a trip to the local light house (when they have one) that the local preservation council works hard to protect. It's warm inside, usually crowded and involves a lot of stair-climbing and turning left. However, you get to the top and see the ocean view and the question of why you wound up doing this fades away. In short, a de riguer activity during your visit to Cape May.

if you want to get away from the crowds in front of the town of Cape May, come on over to the light house ... take a tour ... and then enjoy a bit more privacy. Less than half the people.

We had fun climbing to the top even though it was hot. The gift shop is cute and beach beautiful. We also enjoyed the nature trail.

We really enjoyed & were surprised on our visit to Cape May Point Lighthouse while on a recent trip to Cape May for the beach. It is much larger than expected & surrounded with lots of interesting historic things. The attendants/guides at the Lighthouse really take interest in what they do & make it very worthwhile. Now look, we are still newly weds & aren't out looking for history sites on our beach vacation, but we really liked this one. It's right on the way to Sunset Beach too.

The Lighthouse is a fun attraction to visit while in Cape May. We have climbed several times since we had a membership to MAC and get in free with that. The employees are friendly and the person at the top is usually very knowledgeable about Cape May history.
