“Fantastic B&B in Cape May”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

My wife and I and 19 year old daughter had an absolutely wonderful time at the Inn at The Park this past weekend in Cape May. The innkeepers MaryAnn and Jay are such gracious, attentive and personable hosts. And excellent chefs! The b&b is centrally located, meticulously cared for, and very comfortable. The daily wine and hor devours, along with good company and conversation, were a high point of each day. We heartily recommend the Inn at The Park!

We were glad that we changed our reservations from 3 nights to 4. The room (La Dame) was very spacious and comfortable. The hosts, MaryAnn and Jay, could not have been better hosts if they tried. Each morning we were greeted with friendly smiles, great conversation and fabulous hot breakfast - a different dish each day. Afternoon wine and hors d' oeuvres were a nice break in the day - and delicious as well. The wine selection was wonderful, and also a different selection of wine and hors d'oeuvres each day as well. The location was good. We did not walk to the beach - it was a bit far to go with beach chairs, etc., but several times we did walk to the Mall. It was good exercise and lots to see on the way there. MaryAnn and Jay were helpful with dinner suggestions and things to go and places to see. They treated us like family and took a genuine interest in our comfort and wanted to be sure that we made the most of our visit to Cape May. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful B&B to friends or family.

Room Tip: The cottage rooms were nice - We did not see the rooms in the main part of the house.

My young adult daughter and I stayed here for a weekend getaway together last weekend. Inn at the Park was was the perfect place for such a trip. Mary Ann and Jay take such personal care of their guests that you forget you are staying in commercial accommodations. We had the Sancerre Suite which consisted of a main bedroom with full bath and a junior room with a twin trundle bed. It was perfect for our needs. The beds were very comfortable and rooms are outfitted with antique furniture and accessories. There were ceiling fans and window a/c units to keep you cool. The one criticism we would have is the loud operational noise of the a/c units, however we barely used them since the open windows and ceiling fans circulating the sea air worked well most of the time. There is a beverage fridge outside the rooms and it is equipped wiht bottled water, juice and sodas that are complimentary. You can also store your own perishables as well. The inn is .4 miles from the beach, and about .3 miles to the town square area. It is a perfect central location for those who want a great leap off point to not only the beach, but Cape May historic site-seeing areas, shopping and dining. There is also a very pleasant park with a small lake adjacent to the property - it is a tranquil place to relax, have kids play in the playground, or if you want a change of scenery from the beach scene. The neighborhood is very nostalgic offering gas lantern lit sidewalks, charming Victorian style residences, and plenty of friendly people. I found the tourists, shopkeepers and residents to be particularly friendly and gracious.
The 5 star rating I give this accommodation is for the charming and personable hospitality of the owners/operators Mary Ann and Jim, and their delicious home cooked breakfast, cocktail hour and ease of stay. The Victorian style home presents like an adorable 2 story early 1900's cottage filled with antique furniture, appointments, and vintage family photos. A great place if you are into all of the above, but note that if you have difficulty with stairs you need to ask if there are accommodations other than what we saw on the second and third levels.

Room Tip: If you have difficulty with stairs, ask if there is a first floor option for guests.

Green Features: They have signs in the bathroom that they conserve water and therefore will not replace towels daily unless requested.

We spend a long weekend each year in Cape May and until this year stayed in a different B&B each year to sample as many inns as we could. But our 2013 stay at the Inn at the Park was delightful, the innkeepers were friendly, the room was perfect and the breakfasts were delicious. So we decided there was no sense in trying out another B&B in 2014. We'd found the perfect spot for our Cape May weekends going forward.

4 days and 3 nights weren't nearly enough. Mary Ann and Jay treated us like family. From the food to the accommodations, everything was just right. Breakfast was wonderful. The rooms were spacious and beatifully decorated. Much of the decor was handed down from prior generations which made it even more special. It was very much like staying with family only family that really knows their way around a kitchen. We were impressed with how peaceful it was. We loved how considerate everyone was. We were also amazed at how immaculate most of the homes are. I can't think of any other place quite like it. Can't wait to go back!

We I stayed at the Inn at the Park for 3 nights, it was great that they had a room to accomodate 3 people (most B&B's do not). The breakfast was excellent, Jay is a great chef, and they also have happy hour as well. Mary Ann and Jay were absolutely wonderful and treat you like family. They know what to do in Cape May and also have great suggestions for restaurants. During our stay we met a few of the other guests that where repeat visitors to Inn at the Park, which says alot! Great mini vacation! Thanks Mary Ann and Jay!
