Cape Island Resort
Reviewed 16 February 2013

The review header probably sounds awful so let me explain in the review. Cape Island is a very old park that is also maintained. Roads are not paved but are okay. All of the amenities are maintained to a degree but old and getting older. I was a seasonal in this campground for 10 years. The owners, the Lapores are very nice. I am not a fan of the daughter and son in law that oversees things. They are moody people and I am not the only one that agrees with that statement. I still keep in touch with many seasonal families and they agree. Anyway, for the money they command for this place, other campgrounds in the area have better facilities. It's a seasonal park so their are older people and it tends to be more quiet in the park. Anyway, they do have activities although it's limited. Only four days a week if that. Pool is nice but they have this VIP area where the people pay even more than the others and have another small little pool. Those campers think they are even better than the other park campers. Anyway, to sum it up, it's an okay place but nothing really special goes on. It's way overpriced and the park is old so you do not even take advantage of nice features for the buck. You cannot have a campfire past 11pm....is that the dumbest rule you ever heard of? It's a campground and you cannot have a fire...hah. The guard is miserable for the most part to. My family left two years ago and we are going to return as a seasonal again. This time, we acquired a unit at Seashore. What a beautiful place with new facilities and paved roads. You can have golf carts (not at cape island), you can build and buy a sun room or deck through anyone you want; or do it yourself (not at cape island), have a campfire at anytime (not at cape island), surrounded by friendly staff!, (not at cape island). The list goes on and on. The seasonal price is the same for the year. Sorry Cape Island. Maybe someone will buy the place and make it better.

This is our second year and we love it! Not everything is perfect but its a very nice park. Its a little pricey but you know what they say, you get what you pay for.
PROS: Upkeep, the rules, the staff, location
CONS: Price, lots of kids in the pool-not much room for a leisure swim and really noisy.
