The East Lynne Theater Company is wonderful troupe of actors who put on revival period productions as well as origianl plays during most spring, summer and fall months. Lee Conners and Gayle Stahlhuth produce whimsical, thought provoking and emotionally moving theater with a small versatile, talented group of equity actors. Lee and Gayle manage this in an historic church using minimal sets and evocative lighting. Gayle, who writes, directs and acts in many of the productions and Lee who does lighting, sets and just about everything else, bring to Cape May a unique insight into the American culture and ideas from the mid-ninteenth through the mid-twentieth centuries. Please take the time to experience the ELTC during your stay at Cape May. It is really a terrific way to spend an evening.

This theater is in an old church. I've seen a couple of shows here and they are pretty good. Check the internet for coupons, BOGO.

We first "discovered' East Lynn Theater Company several years ago when we were walking by the First Presbyterian Church in Cape May and saw the billboard out in front advertising a play. We decided to attend, and have been checking out their plays on every trip since (at least annually). Prices are competitive and the acting is first rate, so we sometimes wonder why the plays seem to be rather lightly attended. The church venue, while not the most comfortable seats (well, they *ARE* church pews, after all), provides ample room for those who do come and generally clear views of the stage area, depending on whether some really tall person takes the row immediately in front. ;-) Sound is certainly adequate, and one noticeable feature is that the actors need to "project" their lines without mikes everywhere and that's the way "stage acting" is supposed to be performed, anyway. There are no real amenities such as extensive concessions, etc., but that's understandable given the venue and really unnecessary; after all, it's a short walk to the Washington St. Mall area for refreshment after the play ends. For a pleasant time viewing a play after dinner, in an uncrowded venue and at reasonable prices, we highly recommend the East Lynn Theater Company.

Went to see "Dulcy" and it was excellent! Usually I get fidgety during a show but this had three acts and kept me enthralled the whole time. The actors are amazing and there are great restaurants there that give you a discount. We went to the Washington Inn. The food was gourmet excellent and service great!
