Stayed here July 5 and 6 with my partner. The room was trendy and spotless. Linens, mattress top of the line. Pool and beach were setup which was a great feature."hate carrying stuff to the beach" Pool menu simple but nice. Restaurant was only open for dinner limited menu so we went to Washington inn "very good" impressed with the overall feel, the staff was very accommodating. Considering they we're only open 2 weeks overall great experience and would go back. FYI the restaurant looks amazing. Been going to cape may for 20 years and it's a great addition. Only negative was hallways were basic but all considering they did a great job.

Room Tip: We book last minute after holiday weekend

Let me say that I selected this property BECAUSE it was NEW. I read the reviews on tripadvisor and decided to visit in the same week I booked. I did think the price was high (over 400.00) but it was for oceanfront in JULY!!! Beds were very comfortable, linens fresh and towels plush. VERY clean property and polite staff. Frontdesk seemed a bit uninformed about what was the policy at the beach and the answers to any questions about local restaurants seemed out of their knowledge. Parking was included in a town where space is very tight and it was easy to access the hotel from the parking lot. The airconditioning was loud and seemed to work only in the bedroom leaving the other room warm. The policy about towels, chairs and umbrellas (were they included or NOT) seemed very vague to frontdesk and beach staff as well. Coffee should be available as that is even offered in Hamptons Inns, there being no coffeemaker in room or available in lobby. Pooldeck and pool are beautiful as as are plantings and furniture . No pool shower or outside restrooms on pool deck. Area is very nice, not busy or crowded. I think the prices are high in relation to other (but not NEW) properties in Cape May. It was not a bad experience but I would think again about paying that price . Room included safe, iron and tolietries. Hair dryer as well.

Room Tip: Request room AWAY from restaurant - constructions still evident

My husband and I and our 6 yr old son stayed at this hotel the 4th of July weekend. We booked the room last minute (midnight the night before arrival). This used to be the Atlas Hotel. The room rate was expensive, but it was 4th of July. The room was nice. We stayed in an Ocean View suite which came with a King bed, frige, 2 flat screen TV's , and a sitting area with a pull-out couch. The bathroom was small. The rooms were recently re-done (hence the New name). Unfortunately the on site restaurant was not open yet. We did not go to the pool, although we had a view of it from our room and it was very clean and the bar area looked nice as well. The staff that helped set up the cabanas and chairs on the beach were excellent. One big issue I had: I am a light sleeper and the air conditioner in the room is very loud when it auto shuts on /off. For the room rate they charge, it's not quite up to par . We prefer to stay at Congress Hall when we visit Cape May and will continue to go there.

We checked in on 6/28 and departed on Friday 7/1 to avoid the holiday crowds. It's true the restaurant was not ready. The new opening date is planned for sometime the week of 7/4. Here's our review... we stayed in a Suite with a king bed and oceanfront view.

Pros: Bed was super comfortable with great linens and lots of pillows. The rooms are nicely decorated with all new furnishings, flat screen TV's, etc.. Kind of spa-like feel. Views from the balcony are great. Pool is well supplied and staffed. The staff was very friendly and trying hard. There were not many guests staying there while we were there. Don't know how well they can handle a full house yet. Lobby is very nice. Beach service with chairs and umbrellas. Location is perfect for us - away from the hustle-bustle but close enough to get there if you want to.

Cons: No food or coffee available at all. I know they didn't have a restaurant but we thought they should have set up coffee at the pool bar in the mornings. They finally caught on to that idea by Friday when we were leaving and this will be aleviated when the restaurant opens. The elevator is the old one which is like riding in a slow moving microwave oven and is shared with the cleaning staff. The whole backend of the hotel looks like the old dilapidated Atlas with a fresh coat of paint. The front and back of the hotel looks and feels like two entirely different hotels. Front is slick, contemporary, spa feel and the back is stucco and cinderblock cheap motor inn.

I would stay there again once the restaurant is open, but not for the price we paid. If they want to command high end prices they need to do something about the back of the hotel. Getting from the lobby to the room is not a pleasant experience, but all-in-all, we had a really nice vacation. We recommend Harry's Grille just a few steps away for breakfast if you're still without a restaurant at the Ocean Club.

Our recent trip and first time to Cape May was nothing short of AWESOME. Starting from the amazing place we stayed at, Ocean Club Hotel. We were greeted by some of the friendliest staff we've ever come across and we've traveled everywhere! If you want WHITE GLOVE service, look no further. The rooms were amazing, especially the ocean front suite! Talk about COMFORTABLE BEDS!!! TV's in both the living and bedroom! ACCOMMODATING SUMS IT UP! And for us the cleanliness was IMMACULATE. We loved everyone there, especially the most helpful and friendly Sarah! Beach service was also a nice perk as well as the lovely Tiki Bar by the pool! We rate this 5 star and we will be back again, hoping the same people will be there next year! ;)

The hotel has done a decent job updating the rooms. The rooms were nice, but not luxury. The furniture was of low grade, but neat and modern.

The pool area is much nicer than it was during the Atlas days. There was a lot of service staff running around the pool area. Many confused as to who ordered what and overwhelmed when a lot of people started placing orders. They were unable to charge your room for any order placed pool side. They did not have enough pool towels for the guest. The furniture by the pool was not commercial grade. It would be fine for your deck at home. I suspect that it will look fairly beat on after a season or two. Hopefully many of these kinks can be worked out.

It also appeared as if the owner had many friends and relatives staying at the hotel. These individuals seemed to get the best service. It was extremely annoying at times.

The updates were not significant enough to warrant an increase of almost 100% of cost. We travel a lot and stay at extremely nice hotels. I feel like the owner is trying hard to make this like The Tides in South Beach and falling short in so many ways. For $469 per night (not including tax) in Cape May, NJ, this should have been an exceptional experience. Overall it was "Okay". I believe that they will have no choice but to work the value/price equation or they won't be in business. If things remain "as is", we would not return. They would need to reduce their prices significantly or step it up many, many notches

We at the Ocean Club Hotel take all reviews seriously and use them to improve upon the staff and the hotel.

Below please find responses to some of your comments:

We are sorry if you were subjected to some confusion with regard to placing orders poolside. You are referring to the first day that poolside ordering was made available. We are happy to report that guests have since been able to seamlessly order poolside and charge their rooms for same.

You are entitled to your opinion about the quality of the furniture, both indoor and outdoor. We respectfully disagree on both counts.

Please note that we had many large parties staying with us at the time you were at the hotel. Perhaps you mistook these guests for owners or relations. This was not the case. If you felt that these guests were receiving superior service, we apologize. We insist on exemplary service for all of our guests.

Please know that we strive to provide our guests with exceptional service and a relaxing experience, but we cannot control guest expectations. If we fell short of yours, we apologize.

Best regards,
Ocean Club Hotel Management

It was a last minute decision to visit Cape May for the July 4th holiday and I was very pleased with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating whether you were at the pool or the beach service which provides chairs and umbrellas. The rooms were clean and modern all with a great view of the ocean. Rita went out of her way to make sure all of the guests were having a good time. Although newly open, some construction still going on and the restaurant was not yet open we couldn’t have had a better experience. We will certainly stay at the Ocean Club again.
