“Best bar fight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2013

I was 16 and you could get served there. Then a fight broke out and you know, those bar stools DONT break like they do in the movies. Fast forward 30 years. Yep still same place. Live long.

“Go for the scallops.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013 via mobile

If you want fancy, don't go here. But if you're looking for good scallops at more than a reasonable price, this is the place. We stop here every time we come to Cape May and are never disappointed.

“Best Scallops I ever had!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2013 via mobile

This is not your typical place in Cape May. It.is off the beaten path. No menus, cash only. Very limited selection and only a few tables very dimmly lit. But the freshest and best scallops I ever had. Served totally no frills. If you don't have an open mind you might not go here. Choice of sauteed or very lightly breaded scallops to choose from. Had both and were both very impressive. Not really a spot for the family or fine dining. But if you are a fan of cold beer and scallops there can be no better place for you. Looks like they have a deck to use in the summer. Owner is cook and head bottle washer and will gladly talk to you. Friendly bartender and game is on tv. Not the biggest place so get there early for more than one reason.

“Scallops to die for!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2012

We agree 100% with the first review except for one point. Clammers only go out for 24 hours at a time. Scallopers are out for a week at a time.........and do frequent Mayers. Maybe that's why they have the BEST fried scallops in Jersey. Seriously, the best.

“Best dive in Cape May”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

It's easy to find cheery Victorian restaurants in Cape May. It's a lot harder to find a dimly lit, vaguely threatening bar, the kind of place where fishermen come after three weeks on a clam boat. Mayers is the place to go when you want to see the real Cape May.
