We stayed in room #7 for three days in mid-June and had a wonderful, romantic time. The ocean view, exceptionally comfortable bed, Aveda toiletries, and mini-fridge were all very much appreciated! We loved the inn's old-fashioned yet hip decor--very cool. We spent the late afternoons enjoying pre-dinner drinks on the front porch, looking out at the beach and the passerby.

Unfortunately, the inn's coffee shop wasn't open for the season yet (which no one told us), but the breakfast vouchers were good for $14/day toward two breakfasts at the Blue Pig, which serves delicious food. We also weren't told that we could use the free Congress Hotel umbrellas and deck chairs on the beach, so we paid to rent an umbrella at another section of the beach on our first day--grr! But other than those minor things, we loved the Star Inn and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We were in Cape May attending my cousins beautiful wedding. We stayed at the Star Inn 3 nights the first week of June. We had reserved room #6 after hearing it was the best. Right on. We had a very late arrival on our first night due to a pit stop at the Borgata. We called ahead and told them we would not be arriving until about 1am. No problems at all. Quick easy check in. We were given a code to the main door of the Inn, which is great for security. You must know the code even to enter the building. The Star is located directly across the street from the main building Congress Hall and is about one block or so from the beach. Our room had a nice view of the beach(although no balcony)and the bed and linens were lovely. A nice touch also are the Aveda toilletries. Only thing I would have liked is a small fridge in the room to keep my water cold. However there is an ice bucket and a machine down behind the builing to use. We seemed to be the only ones there it was so quiet and peaceful. Very enjoyable stay! Also the Inn gives breakfast vouchers to use either at the coffe shop down stairs or at the Blue Pig over at Congress Hall. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Star Inn again if given the opportunity. Although it rained during 90% of our stay the Star Inn brightened up our stay!

If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. We were up late one night with people talking in the lobby and walking back and forth between rooms. It is an old house converted with thin walls. It was very cute though, and convenient to a lot of things to do.

What can I say? The Star Inn has hit a homerun in Cape May, NJ. Their impeccable service, gorgeous accomodations and detail-oriented presentation outshine ANY hotel/motel/inn or B&B. The 2 bedroom carriage house we stayed in was on the second floor (no elevator, though). The decor was right out of "House Beautiful!" Huge flat screen tv w/ DVD and VCR players, hardwood floors, velour couch, full kitchen with all the amenities, 2 breathtaking bedrooms (one with a private balcony); tremendous living room area w/ private balcony, 2 bathrooms (I miss a tub bath)...shower only w/ top-of-the-line complimentary toiletries (Avena brand). I will only stay here when I visit Cape May. You have to stay here to believe such a place exists ... especially in a seaside community. You might expect to see this sort of "class" in NYC or LA...surprise...you can experience right here in Capr May, NJ! Excellent job!

The best! Whenever we want a quiet getaway to the shore, room 6, the oceanview front room on the top floor at the Star Inn beckons again and again. This little unassuming yellow house is the nicest place to stay in Cape May! No two rooms are alike, but they all share 4-star amenities like HEAVENLY beds, DVD players, room service, and internet data ports. The friendly folks down at the complimentary coffee shop & bakery downstairs make it an even sweeter deal at the shore - for about half the price of Congress Hall next door! Last August, an oceanview room in the main building cost about $450-$500 per night, while room 6 (with the same view) cost about $275. In the off season, main building ocean rooms go for about $315, while room 6 cost us $150. However, the Star is still just a little yellow house by the sea, with no elevator and no wheelchair access. You will, however, have a grand time at Congress Hall's shining sister!

The Star is shining! My family and I stayed here last week. It is so great. Beautiful decor, just renovated and they offer great ammenities, including a pool, and the best part is the beach service! They set up loungers umbrellas and fluffy pink towels. We felt like we were in the islands. You have to check this hip spot out!-Terry Roth
