Heard so much about this BYOB, so we checked it out and, frankly, don't understand its appeal. It;s like being in a play about a restaurant.....From the piano-player-with-bowtie in the lobby, to the serving staff that always asks, "are you done enjoying your ____ "?(soup, salad, whatever), it's just over-the-top. Tables are right on top of each other, so just hope you don't have anyone loud, opinionated, or obnoxious nearby, because their conversation becomes will quickly become yours. The place is pricey --dinner for two without dessert easily hits $100.
While they don't have lots of daily specials, the food is top-notch. Their summer corn soup is enjoyably creamy with just enough of a bite. As for the entrees, they do different things with standard summer fare, e.g., adding tasso ham and spiced up corn to the fresh and delicious scallops.
But the menus and the food comes fast (you expect that with soup, but that's it) and the servers treat you with scripted sincerity. We actually had to ask the server for bread (you don't get tap water until you've placed a dinner order!) and when we declined dessert, we were quickly shooed along.
There are plenty of other good dining experiences in Cape May, so don't waste your time here. Despite the well-prepared food and a very different kind of menu, we're not going back.
