Columbia House

My husband and I recently spent a long weekend in the Turret Suite of the Columbia House, and we were thrilled with our stay. This is our second time staying here; the first visit was spent in the Master Bedroom. Having a 2-bedroom suite was a luxury for the two of us. Jim and Laura manage to be available, yet non-intrusive at the same time! Our smoke alarms went off one day (due to the next-door neighbors barbecuing) and Jim was on the spot as soon as we called him. He took care of the situation immediately. The accommodations have all the modern necessities while still maintaining the Victorian charm. The rooms are clean and inviting. The location is perfect as it is within walking distance to both the beach and the shopping mall. Although we had our own sunny private patio, we preferred to sit on the front porch, which is a perfect spot to watch the comings and goings of vacationers and horse-drawn buggies. The Columbia House has definitely become our go-to place to stay in Cape May!

Room Tip: The Turrett Suite is located on the 3rd floor, so it may not be a good choice for those who have dif...

My husband and I spent a few days in the Parlor Suite of the Columbia House and were very happy with our accommodations. The hosts, Jim and Laura, were welcoming and helpful. Decorated in true Victorian style, down to every detail, it was a pleasure. The Parlor Suite has a little kitchen area, with living room and bedroom, fitted with all the amenities, clean and airy. There are huge double-hung windows with lace curtains and a side door that leads to the porch and parking.

Columbia House has free parking for guests, and is within walking distance to the beach and many restaurants. The shower is somewhat small in this suite, but there is an outdoor shower that is first class. It is large and completely enclosed, very private for an outdoor shower.

I would recommend this place to anyone going to Cape May!

Room Tip: The Parlor Suite is perfect for one couple, or a couple with baby.

We have been travelling to Cape May every May for more than 25 yrs. It is when Cape May is gearing up for the busy season. The Columbia House is PERFECT! The best location of all...really in the heart of Cape May.The Inn is perfectly kept, the suites are beautifully maintained, updated without losing the victorian charm. Our kitchen was spacious. Bathrooms beautiful and clean! This is a great place to stay with children. My nieces are 11 and for a "girls" get-a-way weekend, the Columbia House scored 10 out of 10 again! I have already reserved for next year. Laura and Jim are helpful and friendly. Columbia House is just right.

We just got back from a long weekend at the Columbia House. This historic home is super clean and beautifully decorated. There are many modern upgrades that make it very comfortable. We stayed in the Turret Suite with a big master bedroom, large second bedroom, and two bathrooms. Both bathrooms have been updated but have the "original" sinks which give it a victorian feel. The living room is cozy and the kitchen has everything you need. The deck is off the kitchen and is wonderful for relaxing! My husband and I travelled with our 2 daughters (ages 10 and 14) and the suite was perfect. So much room to just enjoy your stay! When we arrived, Laura was there to greet us ~ and she's very sweet. Location is absolutely terrific! The beach is a block away, many shops and restaurants are within walking distance. SO good!! Would definitely love to come back!

We stayed at the Columbia House with our two children and we were extremely pleased with everything. This was our third time staying in Cape May and this was, by far, the nicest and cleanest house. The owners, Laura and Jim, are amazing. The house is beautiful, very, very clean, well maintained and spacious. The location is just perfect! We were happy with absolutely everything and will recommend them to all of our friends. No need to look elsewhere next time we go. We are looking forward to going back!

We just returned from an off season visit to the Cape. We stayed in the Parlor Suite. It was perfect. Just the right size. The pictures I saw of the suite don't do it justice-seeing is believing. The house was located within a short walking distance to the mall, the ocean, places to eat,and attractions. We only used our car for out the area attractions. Parking was not a problem, for guests have their own parking space in back. The owners were wonderful, made us feel right at home. It was a wonderful visit to the Cape and we look forward to return off season again to our a new "home" in the cape-The Columbia House.

Room Tip: The Parlor Suite is perfect for couples

Was delighted when the owners agreed to have us for just one night instead of the 2 night minimum required as we could not get away for 2 nights. Lovely, clean, beautifully furnished 2 bedroom suite with well stocked kitchen. One block to beach and just around the corner from the shopping/restaurant district. Friendly owners - thanks for their willingness to bend the rules and let us stay one night. Noticed a lot of vacancy signs around Cape May - perhaps more owners should bend the rules- one night is better than none!
