“A lovely relaxing time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2013

We had never been to Cape May before so we read the reviews on this site. That is how we found our way to The Mason Cottage B&B. The location is perfectly located and a short walk to wherever you would want to go. The breakfast each of our three days was fantastic and accommodating to the diabetic in our group. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. We stayed in the Warne Suite (at the tippy top) and enjoyed the extra living room space to watch the NBA playoff game. We used the bikes, which are in great condition, were available at a moment's notice, and in cute colors. One of our highlights was Patti. She greeted us with a friendly and sincere smile every morning. We missed tea time each day but enjoyed lively music nearby at the Mad Batter. We would definitely come back here.

Thanks to a gift from a generous son, my husband and I recently enjoyed one of the best weekends ever at a B&B. Our stay was highlighted by comfortable surroundings and wonderful food (enjoyed both mornings on the comfortable front porch). You can only imagine how thrilled I was when Patti, was able to accommodate my gluten free diet. I even was served gf French toast! Patti quietly pointed out the gluten free offerings at tea time as well. The location is fantastic. It is within walking distance of the beach, restaurants and the Washington St mall. After parking the car on Friday, we never moved it again until checking out on Sunday. We hope to return time and time again to this wonderful B&B.

Room Tip: The upper 2 floors would offer more quiet accommodations.

Just returned from a two-night stay at The Mason Cottage in Cape May, NJ, and absolutely loved it! It is centrally located in the heart of the Victorian district, one block from the beach, and very close to the Washington Street Mall, so you're within an easy walking distance of everything. Parking is on the street and free of charge, so no need to worry about having to keep putting money in meters! The inn itself is lovely; our suite (The Davis Suite) was beautiful, complete with a sitting room with a fireplace, a Jacuzzi tub in our bathroom, and two robes for our use! It was warm, cozy, and perfect for our getaway. But what made our stay even more perfect was the innkeeper, Patti. She couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating! The breakfasts she served were delicious, tea time with Patti's baked treats from 3-4 was a great pick-me-up after a day of walking around the town, and all the little special touches Patti added made our stay perfect! There were free bicycles to use during our stay, beach chairs had we needed them, a 24 hour pantry if you wanted tea or coffee, and lots of brochures available to get ideas for various things to do in the area. This was our first time to a B & B, and after this wonderful experience it won't be our last. Just beware.....once you stay at The Mason Cottage, you won't ever want to leave!!!

Room Tip: The Davis Suite is wonderful; it's on the 2nd floor and has a sitting room with a tv and firepla...

The property is beautifully maintained and very clean, and we felt welcomed and pampered by Patti and the staff. The afternoon tea was delightful with homemade brownies and cookles. There is a pantry for 24-hour service and an assortment of chocolate treats that are always available. The Franklin Suite (on the 3rd floor) was perfect for our anniversary trip. Breakfast (inside or on the patio) was sumptuous. Free (and easy) parking is available on the street, and you are one block from the beach, two blocks from the Washington Street shops, four blocks from The Washington Inn, and a bike ride (provided by the Mason Cottage) to the rest of the city. You will not be disappointed. We weren't!

Room Tip: The Franklin Suite is on the third floor, an easy walk up two flights of stairs. There is a good si...

I have been a frequent guests of B and B's for many years. I recently spent an overnight at the Mason Cottage with friends, celebrating a birthday. Patti, the innkeeper, was awesome. I knew from the first conversation by phone that this was a special place. From arrival to departure, the three of us had only praise for the Inn and it's keeper. The rooms were spotless, beds very cozy, breakfast of quiche, sausage, muffins, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, cereal, juice.. a perfect start to the day. We missed the afternoon fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies and tea but we were out on the town, right around the corner from the Inn. Location perfect for beach and shops, but far enough away to be quiet ,easy in and out of town, information about internet, codes, restaurants, times for breakfast, etc... verbal and written for us. very efficient, warm, welcoming, Patti does it perfectly. You know it has been a good stay when you feel so welcome that you don't want to leave!

Just spent three nights at the Mason Cottage for a wedding weekend. The location on Columbia Ave. is prime. The porch looks straight down Gurney St. to the ocean. It's a nice expansive view with the Abbey and the Seven Sisters lining one side of Gurney St. The Mason Cottage is perfect for walking distance to Cape May's shops, restaurants, bars, and the beach. Yet you spend your evening within the neighborhood so it's more peaceful for relaxing than the hustle of Beach Ave and the hotels. The only thing better than the location was Patti. She was a great Inn Keeper with suggestions for dining and entertainment when we inquired and was more than accommodating during our stay. Loved breakfast and afternoon tea. Sorry we only got to catch tea one day.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Franklin Suite. Having the extra space to spread out during a 3 night stay was wort...

This was the first trip for the Missus and me to Cape May and we found The Mason Cottage online. It seemed to have tons of good reviews so we booked the "nice room" with the separate living room and a hot tub.

The B&B is literally walking distance to the beach (we visited in the Fall so the beach was not the big attraction) and it's a nice stroll to the pedestrian shopping area and town square.

The breakfast was great and the Innkeeper prides herself on catering to specific dietary needs. In fact, one of the people at the in was gluten-free, so all her food was...gluten-free,

There is a "tea" in the afternoon which is really all about chocolate treats. It's very nice and relaxing and a chance to chat with fellow travelers.

The only downside, for us, were the stairs. We should have known better. It's an old, Victorian house. Our room was at the tippy top and neither of us are in great shape so hauling luggage up the stairs and even coming up and down to the room was good exercise. So, if you don't think the stairs will work for you, get a room on the lower levels. The experience of the Inn will be just as nice.

Room Tip: Lower level rooms if you don't like stairs. This is an old Victorian house. No elevator.
