Just got back from Cape May last week. The Sandpiper is a great place to stay. Location was excellent (right across the street from the beach). The condo units were very clean, modern, and comfortable. Loved the beach view. The pool is small and has a limited amount of chairs. However, you can always use the facilities at the beach provided by Congress Hall at ZERO cost. Would definitely go back.

We stayed in a two-bedroom, two-bath suite with my extended family (which included a teenager and grandmother) and was very pleased with the suite and the location of the Sandpiper Beach. It was close enough to the heart of Cape May and across the street from the beach. The kitchen was well-equipped with pots, pans, utensils and plates, and the bathrooms were well stocked with towels and toiletries. The condo was modern and decorated nicely. There was a private porch or balcony with each unit which was a nice feature. The pool was not large but the water was warm,

Would recommend staying at this condo with an extended family..

Great place to stay, very clean with great views. The staff was was very nice. The rooms were very updated with flat screen tv's and large kitchen. Beds were really comfie. My 2 year old loved running around on the large balcony.

First time stay at this condo complex. Check-in staff member, who was very friendly, gave wrong directions to condo which caused inconvenience while transporting luggage. ( The condo was located on the top floor and very close to the beach and shopping). This initial misstep left doubt in my mind about how the rest of the stay was going to go. Keep in mind that the elevators are located on the second level so luggage is transported up a ramp or stairs to get to the elevator. The unit was clean and quiet. The maid checked twice daily: Once to do general housekeeping duties and later in the day to gather towels that were used at the beach or pool. On the minus side, the bed was not comfortable- could feel the springs through the mattress- the mattress squeaked whenever one sat on it and the head board was loose. To compensate for this I placed a towel between the headboard and wall and the fluffy comforter under the mattress pad. I am a long time traveler and have learned to make quick fixes, then continue with my vacation fun. I paid $299.00 per night -off season rate- for 2 small bedrooms, small living/kitchen area, 2 small decks, so-so ocean view, an adequate sized kitchen, a nice sized one sink bath, 2 televisions, internet, iron/board, hairdryer, plush wash cloths/towels, pools, and one parking space. The kitchen, attached to the living room, had granite ( or marble?) counters, 4 bar stools, stainless appliances and was adequate for cooking (didn't). Another plus was the stacked washer and dryer unit in a closet with the furnace/AC. Since this complex is associated with Congress Hall, beach/lounge chairs with towels are set up for you on the beautiful beach. Apparently they offer food and drink services on the beach too, but we didn't use.

Personally, I am in love with Congress Hall and usually stay there while in Cape May. Whenever Congress Hall is sold out, I am glad to stay next door at the Sandpiper. The rooms have every modern luxury and are oh so spacious. Kitchens, big bedrooms, nice balconies and really cozy living rooms. If you have a big family and want a beachfront room, this is the place to be. When you are at the Sandpiper, you have access to all of Congress Hall's facilities also, including access to the beach club for chairs, umbrellas and food service while you sun. The Sandpiper is as beachfront as it gets in Cape May and has limited, but charming on site facilities such as boardgames, some books and an old fashioned game room.

Overall, if you don't want to pay the price tag for Congress Hall or you need a larger room, I highly suggest the Sandpiper.

My girls (13 & 11) and I spent 5 days at the Sandpiper in suite 211 during the last week of September. I didn't want to rate the hotel just average because it's better than that; a few things would make it ‘very good‘. We got a pretty good deal at this time of year. We booked 3 nights and got the 4th free. You are certainly paying for the location, not just the room.

Here are the pros:
1) The front desk (checking in and out), and housekeeping staff were friendly and pleasant.
2) The room had gorgeous views of the ocean.
3) The room was clean. There is twice a day housekeeping, which if you are messy would be a plus. We are not, so once a day was fine.
4) The suite had a separate bedroom with a large bed. The bed was comfortable and had luxurious bedding. The living area was adequate in size for us. It had comfortable seating.
5) Full size appliances were convenient. I made most of our meals in the suite.
6) The private balcony with rocking chairs was lovely.
7) The hotel is close to everything. You really do not have to drive. You can park your car and forget it.
8) Towels were fab!
9) Washer and dryer is convenient.

The cons:

1) Getting to the elevator is like walking through a tunnel. It's nicely painted and carpeted, but still feels like a tunnel.
2) When you enter the room, you are in the bedroom. This means at night you hear the comings and goings from the exterior corridor.
3) The windows are covered with blinds. They look nice. However they do not block the morning sun, people, or at night the lights they have outside the rooms. Drapes are really necessary in the sleeping area.
4) The air conditioning unit for the suite is located in a closet in the bedroom. It's very loud!! Kicking on in the middle of the night, can wake the dead.
5) There is very little storage space. The suite requires more shelving. There is a 2 1/2 drawer dresser and 3 closets, but not enough shelf space. Putting shelving in all closets would make a big improvement.
6) The bathroom was very small and although pretty, had no storage shelves. We put our stuff under the sink and on top of the dresser (not convenient).
7) The sleeper sofa was not good. A hotel that invested in a quality sleeper sofa, would have my business for life!
8) TV reception was fuzzy the entire time. Sometimes very fuzzy. WiFi would disconnect at times, but was ok overall.
9) Hardwood flooring in the living room is nice, but you hear every step someone is taking overhead.

Things to keep in mind: Although this is an efficiency suite, its not like renting a home at the beach where your necessities like salt and pepper are there. Pots/pans, 4 place settings, glassware, some bowls, and silverware are there. Bring everything else.

It may seem as though we didn't enjoy our stay, but we truly did and would stay again. I just want to give a balanced review with as much info as possible, so the reader can decide what is important to him/her.

Note: We are not high season beach people. We like the peace and quiet of the off season. That's what we got at the Sandpiper and in Cape May. However, toward the weekend, more people were coming into the hotel and I was aware of more noise. More cars, more people talking outside, people walking overhead (try to get the 3rd floor as this is the top floor), along the corridor, etc. The Sandpiper is a nice spot. If you choose the time you visit carefully, you should be fine.

Excellent location, coupled with some very nice/modern touches. Beach service was very nice as well.

Very clean and comfortable. We had a two bedroom condo on top floor. Roomy balcony with nice view.

Beds were top shelf.
