On our last night in Cape May, friends joined us for dinner. I relied on trip advisor to help me find a restaurant. Reviews of M'Ocean seemed pretty favorable and it was in walking distance. The view of the beach was fantastic. Beer selection was uninspired. Menu was VERY short... And we had a guest with multiple food allergies. The waitress was very unsympathetic, the chef was unacommodating. Mosaic salad was worth it, swordfish was terrific, but the lobster pesto pasta was disgusting. Poorly prepared, drowning in sauce. My son could not eat it. The Caesar salad was almost inedible... Also over sauced.
So many other, better choice in Cape May. Skip this one.

Found M'Ocean by accident as it has recently taken over a space that also had a great reputation. Lucky for us! We were really looking for a place with a great bar and a view-- planning on eating appys and head on our way. We stayed way longer than planned as the cocktails were incredible (Marcello was a great bartender), the food delicious and really reasonably priced (clams on the half shell, a wonderful grilled watermelon- soaked in rum- salad, and the most OUTRAGEOUS burger ever!). Sat there chatting with an employee/patron for the night - Todd-, drinking and eating for hours. I wish the owners well- and am certain that before long this place will be packed full of patrons looking for a great meal and a great drink.

This upscale place was awesome! The variety of items offered was nice. We opted for all seafood since we were at the beach in the summer. The portions were large and the prices were just right. We were sat in the enclosed balcony area which was a nice view of the ocean. Some of the food was too pretty to eat. The service was immediate and great! As soon as it looked like the water glasses were getting low, someone came and refilled it. We would like to eat here again if we get back to Cape May!

My family and I visit Cape May frequently and Martini Beach was always one of our favorite spots. We never ate at the restaurant but loved the bar. The best thing about Martini Beach was the vibe, always full of people having a great time. Though to be honest, there were a lot of things we didn't like about it. Service was always rough. Bartenders were friendly and good at their job, but they always seemed short staffed and were trying to keep up with demand. In addition, for a "martini bar" the cocktails were very dated, super sugary concoctions with low quality liquors. So when we found out Martini Beach was being replaced with M'Ocean, we were willing to give it a chance.
My husband and I visited M'Ocean memorial day weekend and sat at the bar. It was super quiet when we arrived (about 9pm) but was hopping shortly after. Mood was slightly more subdued but the ambiance was nice. I think they did a nice job with updating the decor. I was very happy with the changes to the cocktail menu. Martinis are now on trend with the use of fresh fruit and herbs (and St. Germaine - my favorite!). Also a great selection of craft beer and reasonably priced wine. Menu seems small, but intriguing. As implied, the menu is very focused on fish and raw bar items (though this does not appear to be on display as advertised, unless I missed it). We order the tuna carpaccio and though it was very good. Although not cheap at $14, I felt the portion size made it a good value. We also received an amuse-bouche and bread even though were were only splitting one appetizer. The bread came with some kind of amazing butter with Hawaiian salt. This really impressed us, it is always nice to feel appreciated and we will definitely be giving M'Ocean a try for dinner sometime this summer.
Sometimes change is good, hopefully that will be the case here.

So happy to hear you gave us a try and enjoyed everything. Isn't it amazing what a little fresh fruit and herbs can do for a cocktail! We cannot wait for you to join us for dinner next time you are in town! Thank you for the review!
