Impeccably maintained, ideally located, incredibly comfortable; Fred and Joan have made the Gingerbread House inviting and accommodating in every way, There is no question that we will return. You simply will not find better in Cape May!

We were lucky to get a room during the 4th of July holiday at the Gingerbread House which turned out to be one of the nicest and cleanest B&Bs we have ever stayed in and a mere 1/2 block from the beach and main strip in Cape May. From the moment I spoke with Joan on the phone, I knew I would be staying with hosts that care about excellent service and people. They were such gracious and knowledgeable hosts without being over-imposing. We totally felt at home and had the most comfortable sleep and Joan's breakfasts were simply delicious! I recommend the Gingerbread House without hesitation. We will definitely be back again. Thank you Joan and Fred for all your efforts!

My husband and I just stopped by the Gingerbread House for one night. We were on our way back from North Carolina and chose to spend a night in Cape May to break up the drive. We had never been and were not really sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. The Gingerbread House is a beautiful Victorian house. Fred, the owner, built and restored most of the house himself. The front porch and garden were also beautifully maintained. Fred and Joan could not have been more gracious and hospitable. Fred even moved is car to give my husband a place for his motorcycle. Upon returning from dinner we were greeted by a thoughtful note on the door wishing us luck on our early morning departure and a bag filled with delicious home made pastries. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here and we are certainly going to return.

This was a spur of the moment trip to the shore of Cape May, and we were lucky to come across the Gingerbread House when looking for B&B's online. The reviews of this place were great and we agree. Pulling up to the street I was in awe of the beautiful, painted lady style Victorian homes on this block. You can even take a horse and buggy ride through the town to see all the charming homes in the area. Even though we arrived early, Joan was very welcoming and friendly. We traveled with our youngest child and she was greeted with cookies and smiles. (The cookies were GREAT, we ate them all) We were headed to the beach and Joan found us some beach tags that we needed to gain entry to the beach and had beach chairs and towels as well as an out-door shower (which my daughter loved) to use. The room was very clean with anything you might need, including a mattress under the bed for our daughter to sleep on. Breakfast was very good with strawberry waffles, potatoes, bacon, fruit, yogurt and pound cake. Very yummy! With this being our first B&B, our experience was GREAT and we would recommend this place to anyone!

We came and stayed for our 25th anniversary. The Gingerbread House is beautiful and Joan and Fred are gracious and welcoming hosts! They helped us plan a romantic dinner at the nearby Washington Inn and were happy to answer any questions that we had. Our room was beautiful and breakfast was delicious. Our time was so enjoyable that we are looking forward to finding the opportunity to take our children back with us and have also been recommending the Gingerbread House to friends and family!
Thank you Joan and Fred! Bill & Carin

It turned out to be the perfect place for a weekend getaway. The location is in the charming (& quiet) old part of town, yet it's within a block of the beach and other attractions. Joan is a great host who'll send you on your way each morning with a scrumptious, plentiful breakfast. (We had to skip lunch as a result.) The house is perfectly maintained inside and out. It has a nice porch to while away hours reading or chatting.

There is only one place we stay in Cape May. From the very first time we stayed here years ago we felt relaxed and comfortable. This is due to Fred and Joan (the owners) warm and friendly personalities. They go above and beyond to make a person feel welcome at all times. The Gingerbread House is immaculate and they both take pride in ownership. Fred's attention to detail with his wood working and upkeep is second to none. Joan's delicious breakfast entree's is what the breakfast in a Bed and Breakfast is all about.
The Gingerbread House is close to the beach or shopping.

Room Tip: Room #1 has the best view with a balcony.
