I can't wait to go back. The house, the location to the beach and shopping area, the breakfast, the hospitality, all perfect! Fred and Joan truly made it their business to make sure we had everything we needed. We went with our daughters, both 19, and we all left happy and wanting to return again next summer. We stayed in the Luxury Suite which has a nice private outdoor porch. This was terrific, as we had additional room to just sit and hang out with the girls. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer!

Joan and Fred are great people who make you feel very welcome. They have a beautiful house with a great location. It is a short walk to the beach and also a short walk to the downtown area. Breakfast every morning is great. Thanks for everything.

GBH is an EXCEPTIONAL B & B.. The rooms are decorated with tender loving care. The rooms are kept immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable. You literally cannot beat the location. 4 houses from the beach and maybe a 5 minute walk, if that, to the center of town. The neighborhood is quiet. Fred and Joan are incredible hosts. They do their best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Joan even went out of her way to provide some beach chairs and towels to our family after we checked out so that we could extend the day of our vacation. Doesn't that say it all?! We will undoubtedly stay here again on our return.

Room Tip: There is a room with a private balcony looking out over the street. A must!!

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Gingerbread House (8/8-8/11). This was our 5th stay at this B&B and Fred and Joan went above and beyond to make our stay as wonderful as our visits have been in the past. Although we hadn't seen them in over 3 years, it was as if no time had passed. The room (we always stay in #2) was spotless and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the former double bed had been recently switched out with a Queen size bed. The bedding had also been updated and is beautiful. We loved the addition of the Keurig down in the dining area, which we indulged in on many occasions during our stay. Joan's homemade snacks were always plentiful during the lunch and evening hours and oh so good! Joan's breakfast is always fantastic and we enjoyed it every morning of our stay. I can't begin to describe how re-charged our batteries were after leaving the B&B on Monday AM. It was wonderful weather, excellent food, incredible hospitality and we met some very nice fellow guests. We spent several of our nights outside on the porch chatting and laughing with our hosts and fellow guests for hours upon hours. We dined at the Peter Shields Inn and the Blue Rose Inn. Both were incredible. We took advantage of the discounted pricing for early seating. All in all, a wonderful trip. We look forward to going again next year to see Joan, Fred and McKinley. What a great team!

Room Tip: Rooms 1-3 have the bathroom in the room.

We had a great weekend at the Gingerbread House! We were greeted by Joan who showed us around the house, gave us some baked treats and made us feel right at home. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a shared bath. The house is on Gurney Ave, which is a lovely street. Quiet, yet less than a block's walk from the beach. The house is beautifully decorated and meals were hearty. The bathrooms and rooms were kept very clean and our visit was a dream. We will return next year!

We stayed at the Gingerbread House this past weekend. It's located one block from the beach and 3 blocks away from the Washington Mall. It's in a great location and within walking distance to other great must-dos like the nightlife (Boiler Room, Carney's and Cabanas), shopping, mini-golf, and bike rentals.

We stayed in room #5 which is located on the third floor. We slept on a COMFORTABLE queen sized bed. The room has a quiet window A/C, a nice roof window with blinds, 2 bath towels, 2 wash cloths, 2 beach towels, shampoo and conditioner in one, shower cap, soap bars, lotion, cotton balls, q-tipsand a small flat screen TV. We shared a good sized IMMACULATE bathroom with 2 other rooms and never had to wait to use it. The bathroom has shower gel and make-up remover, plus numerous clean make-up towels and bath mats. There is a refrigerator on the third floor for everyone's personnel use. The B&B provides 2 beach chairs per room and a bike rack behind the house for bike storage. There is also an outside shower outside with toiletries. The owners keep a ton of umbrellas for your use in case it rains. They also have menus for all the major restaurants in town. On the porch in a basket, they have mosquito repellant. There is also a downstairs 1/2 bath so you don't have to go upstairs. They provide a couple newspapers at breakfast.

The breakfast is AMAZING. Aside from fruit, pastries, coffee and OJ, Joan prepared an apple French toast on Saturday (served around 9ish) and sausage. It was comparable to Penn States sticky buns. On Sunday, she prepared a hot ham and cheese croissant served with a smashed potatoes, a slice of tomato and asparagus. Throughout the day, you can help yourself to cookies, brownies, pretzels, and/or a pastry plus keurig coffee or tea.

The other couples staying there were delightful. We especially enjoyed our breakfast conversation and our afternoon talks with wine and beer.

I'd like to give Joan and Fred and their helper a big shout out as a former General Manager of a few different hotels. They impressed the socks off of me with their HOSPITALITY.

Cape May...beautiful, historic, and relatively uncrowded...is the perfect place to enjoy the Jersey Shore...and the Gingerbread House is the perfect place to enjoy Cape May. The lovingly restored Victorian cottage is close to the beach and many excellent restaurants. The rooms are charming and comfortable and the hosts, Joan and Fred, go "above and beyond" to provide their guests with everything to make their beach vacation memorable...including delicious breakfasts. My wife...a Jersey Shore native...my young daughter, and I return to the Gingerbread House every summer. We wouldn't go anywhere else.
