In a row of similar houses the Gingerbread definitely stands out. The painting and and refurbishing has been metculously restored. It is fun just to admire the details. Then to meet and get to know Fred and Joan is a true delight. You can tell they pour their heart and soul into their B&B. Joan cooks a wonderful breakfast to get the day started out right. Then she has several choices of cakes to go along with the afternoon tea. We have definitely enjoyed our stay and look forward to the next one.

Fred and Joan run a lovely B&B, less than half a block from the beach. Their B&B has loads of charm, yes, as many do, but their breakfasts, the service and the attention they pay to their guests will be hard to match. Our five-year old (and we) had a great (and restful even) holiday.

My wife and I have been traveling to South Jersey for the past 18 years. We spent a lot of time in Wildwood Crest because of the kids and would take day trips to Cape May. For the last 5 years we have been coming and staying in Cape May by ourselves. We have stayed in a good number of the B&B in Cape May.The Gingerbread house to us is to us the perfect place to stay. The owners Joan and Fred make you feel as if the house is your own. It has a great location and the most important thing to us is it is immaculate. I would highly recommend staying there.

Owners Fred and Joan offer personalized service more like staying with friends than in a hotel, but without the need to help cleanup! The room comes with breakfast and tea and a bottle of wine. The rooms are beautiful and spotless, with period pieces and wonderful finishings throughout. The location is perfect for visiting the beach and visiting the pedestrian mall and other sites.

Even though we had a patch of rough weather with Ernesto running a bit wild at the end of August, nothing could "dampen" the great time we had at The Gingerbread House in Cape May, New Jersey. It is the most charming home with all its victorian decor and antiques, and the room we had was absolutely amazing. Sitting in our own private porch was more like taking a trip back in time. The breakfast was delicious and the afternoon tea with all the home baked goodies was something to look forward to! Fred and Joan Echevarria are the warmest people and it is more like visiting old friends, they are so welcoming. Joan has great tips and suggestions--Tisha's was great! thanks Joan, and Fred is so helpful with all his little tricks to the house--the outside shower is a must do! We had to arrive a bit late and they waited for us to arrive and were so accommodating. I will be returning back as often as I can to Cape May, and the Gingerbread House is my must stay!!

Joan and Fred (the owners) were very friendly and accommodating. They made us feel like their house was our house. The B&B was absolutely beautiful. It was like stepping back in time and it is kept in mint condition but they don't mind you relaxing in their antique living room or cozy front porch. The breakfast each morning was something to look forward to. It's not the kind of food you would make for yourself. Splurge and enjoy is Joan and Fred's motto. Something different every morning and plenty to fill you up. The afternoon tea/lemonade with sweets was something to look forward after a day of sightseeing in this beautiful town or lounging on the beach. I can't wait to return to this quaint town and the kindness and warmth of The Gingerbread House!

On a last minute hunch my wife came up with the idea to travel and visit the Cape May NJ area. Since we have never been there before we went to the internet to find out about the area and what it had to offer. We bounced around the net for awhile and came upon a B+B website. This particular website shows if there are any openings when you punch in dates. It showed many properties but most of them were already booked. We saw that the Gingerbread House had an opening so we decided to call and make a reservation. When I asked if they had any openings, he began to chuckle and told me that he had just received a call of a cancellation and that it was just entered into the website as being open. It must be some kind of an omen. We booked it for two nights, Wednesday and Thursday. When we arrived, I couldn't believe how close it was to the beach and the many other activities the area has to offer. The owners were great. They really loved their home and it showed. The craftsmanship that Fred applied throughout his house was evident of that love. You have to visit it to believe what I'm saying. The relaxing night life within walking distance was wonderful. There are plenty of places to eat and browse. If you choose this place on your next stay, you will not be dissatisfied. Enough said, go explore on your own...
