We spent a long weekend in the "mission inn", owned by wonderful hosts Susan and Ray and have had an extremely nice time. The friendly hosts get out of their way to make the guests' stay as pleasant as can be. They attend to the finest details and the inn is beautifully decorated and welcoming. Great breakfast cooked to your taste, coffee and refreshments to enjoy all day. You can borrow great bikes and beach gear at no additional charge. While the theme of the inn is of a Spanish Californian mission, the rooms, bathrooms, living and dining room are uptodate and spotless. Great stay.

From a man who does incredible amounts of research and really likes bed and breakfasts (B&B): my wife and I stayed at the absolute best B&B in Cape May in July 2010.

Each room is meticulously modeled after real Spanish missions in California (or elsewhere).

The building architecture -- incredible murals and wall paintings -- perfectionist comfort furniture -- and the best breakfast of any B&B we have yet witnessed, all leave us amazed.

Unlike the victorian B&Bs that Cape May is famous for (with their uncomfortable furniture, and in crowded parts of town), the Mission Inn was set apart in a very quiet, peaceful area of Cape May, complete with a small garden in the back.

Brand new bikes, beach gear, even boogie boards available in the Garage. Incredible hors d'eurves in the afternoon. Best we have had in our life. Freshly made brownies/pastries were available daily at any time, as was access to the beautiful guest kitchen. The breakfasts were very appealing, surpassing other B&B we have enjoyed. Excellent romantic outdoor and indoor seating.

The sitting room, adjacent to the kitchen, was so wonderful for snuggling up together around a book, or looking through menus of local restaurants.

There is a small, restful garden in the back of the house that is wonderful for spending time with God, reading a good book, or just taking a nap. Very peaceful and quiet.

We stayed in the "Santa Clara" which was one of the most desirable rooms: affordable, beautiful, luxurious.

The "Santa Clara's" two person hot tub was great, but the headboard, wall murals, fireplace, 10-headed shower, and other room decorations were just staggering. Although the bed was large and very comfortable, this was one of the smaller rooms in the Inn and did not feature a sitting chair in the room. It was situated on the second floor.

NO EXPENSE WAS SPARED in the making of this B&B and it is obvious.

We requested and received a tour of a few of the other rooms and really enjoyed: "San Francisco de Asis" (Second Floor), and the "San Diego de Alcala" (First Floor). Some of the rooms we could not see, but I am sure they were all fantastic.

Probably the ideal time to visit is late summer (late August / early September) when the ocean water is warmest, and the seasonal rates are most affordable.

Highly recommended for a peaceful, relaxed vacation.

Criticisms? Only that they should add more room photos to their website for us to plan our next trip.

My wife brought me to the Mission Inn for my birthday two years ago in the spring of 2009 for one night and it was wonderful. This time, we were able to stay for two nights. The Inn just reopened from renovations, and it was even more beautiful than I remembered. As much as this might sound like a cliche, they thought of everything. From the in-room fireplace, two person jacuzzi tub and two person shower. We didn't want to leave the room. Also, the common areas are both stunning and comfortably casual. The little touches were excellent as well from single serving tea or coffee 24 hours a day to a fabulous breakfast cooked to order and white wine in the fridge.

As beautiful as Cape May is in the summer, the Mission Inn makes it fun in the off season.

If you're looking for a B&B, this one is as close to perfect as they get.

Room Tip: The internet doesn't do them justice.

Spent a romantic Valentine's long weekend at this all inclusive bed and breakfast. Susan welcomes you home at the door, shows you all the lovely common areas and perks, and guides you to your quiet, comfortable, smartly laid-out room with luxe spa bath. Quality linens, king bed, electric fireplace, walk-in closet, champagne and chocolates for Valentine's day, fancy bottled water. This was one of the "small" rooms. Breakfasts are deliciously innovative and healthy, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. Will gladly accommodate diet restrictions, vegetarians, and vegans. Served over an hour and a half, so eat when you want.
Beautiful sunroom has plenty of comfy lounge space, keurig coffemaker, every kind of beverage you could want, and constant home made goodies. Fabulous afternoon appetizers never run out and are different every day. All kinds of glassware available for your adult beverages. Full refrigerator, microwave, utensils, ice, for guest use.
Susan and Ray are always available and helpful, but never intrusive. They are totally invested in your comfort, relaxation, and privacy. They will recommend restaurants, make the reservations, find that wine you wanted, whatever. The inn was full of repeat customers, and we had fun socializing at breakfast and afternoon goody time, comparing restaurants and plans for the day.
Outdoor spaces looked inviting, even in winter. Garden must be absolutely lovely in summer, with shady and sunny spots. One block from a quieter part of the beach. Trolley service to downtown in summer. Parking on site. Bicycles available. Walking distance to Pier House and Peter Shields restaurants, both excellent. Highly recommend the Mission Inn!
