This was our third time staying at the Mission Inn and it was booked very last minute (the day before), but we were still treated like royalty. Susan and Ray go out of their way to make us feel at home. Every possible want/ need has been thought of and taken care of. The Inn is beautiful and the food is delicious. There is no other place I would rather stay. Fantastic B&B.

Room Tip: Santa Barbara is the BEST room!

My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary by treating ourselves to three nights at the beautiful Mission Inn. We have visited Cape May many times, but for our anniversary we chose to treat ourselves to a few nights at the Mission Inn. We did some research and decided that the Mission Inn looked unique and interesting.

Our stay exceeded our expectations. You notice the detailed, beautifully decorated public rooms as soon as you enter the inn. The quality of the inn, along with the detailed touches are evident. The common "living room" area is comfortably decorated with warm, southwestern colors. Each of the eight guest rooms is different, presenting a different theme. The guest rooms are beautifully painted; you feel as if you are part of the mural-like artwork shown on the walls. We stayed in the San Luis Rey room, on the second floor. The king-size bed was very comfortable. The bath/shower facilities were modern and of excellent quality.

Susan and Ray, the innkeepers/owners, were very warm, friendly, and helpful in offering dining suggestions and attractions to visit. We enjoyed speaking with them and felt that they could not do enough for their guests. The breakfasts that Susan prepared were delicious; the presentation was so nice that it was almost too nice to eat! The breakfasts were all prepared with excellent-quality fresh ingredients, geared toward the health-conscious, and very tasty. Fruit was offered each day, and Susan alway asked if the guests had any special dietary needs/requests.

The location of the inn is only one block from the beach. Lounge chairs and beach umbrellas are made available, along with bicycles. It was as a bit too cool and windy for my wife and I to enjoy the beach, which was to be expected since it was only late-April. We did have a great time walking around town and doing our daily long walks on the promenade/boardwalk. The walk into the main park of town is about 15 minutes.

We enjoyed our stay and have made plans to visit the MIssion Inn again this summer. Anyone considering a romantic getaway in a beautiful inn, with wonderful, accommodating hosts, would love the Mission Inn.

Room Tip: Book as early as possible; visit midweek.

The Mission Inn is very unique! In a city of Victorian homes, the Mission style stands out--in a good way! The interior decoration is warm and welcoming and each room has a gorgeous hand painted mural of a different California mission! It is extremely tasteful and well done. Another bonus is that each room has a king sized bed.
The inn's hospitality is very special; we have been there twice and both times left feeling pampered and well taken care of! The owners are lovely people and have stocked the rooms and the inn with every conceivable item a traveler could need!
The breakfasts are delicious and they graciously accomodated my vegan diet. They put out terrific afternoon snacks with wine and home made cookies are always out!
The inn is only one block from the beach and walkable to "downtown Cape May" as well. It's enough away from the action to be quiet but not too far for convenience.

Room Tip: All rooms are gorgeous-web describes them well.

We spent a long weekend in the "mission inn", owned by wonderful hosts Susan and Ray and have had an extremely nice time. The friendly hosts get out of their way to make the guests' stay as pleasant as can be. They attend to the finest details and the inn is beautifully decorated and welcoming. Great breakfast cooked to your taste, coffee and refreshments to enjoy all day. You can borrow great bikes and beach gear at no additional charge. While the theme of the inn is of a Spanish Californian mission, the rooms, bathrooms, living and dining room are uptodate and spotless. Great stay.

From a man who does incredible amounts of research and really likes bed and breakfasts (B&B): my wife and I stayed at the absolute best B&B in Cape May in July 2010.

Each room is meticulously modeled after real Spanish missions in California (or elsewhere).

The building architecture -- incredible murals and wall paintings -- perfectionist comfort furniture -- and the best breakfast of any B&B we have yet witnessed, all leave us amazed.

Unlike the victorian B&Bs that Cape May is famous for (with their uncomfortable furniture, and in crowded parts of town), the Mission Inn was set apart in a very quiet, peaceful area of Cape May, complete with a small garden in the back.

Brand new bikes, beach gear, even boogie boards available in the Garage. Incredible hors d'eurves in the afternoon. Best we have had in our life. Freshly made brownies/pastries were available daily at any time, as was access to the beautiful guest kitchen. The breakfasts were very appealing, surpassing other B&B we have enjoyed. Excellent romantic outdoor and indoor seating.

The sitting room, adjacent to the kitchen, was so wonderful for snuggling up together around a book, or looking through menus of local restaurants.

There is a small, restful garden in the back of the house that is wonderful for spending time with God, reading a good book, or just taking a nap. Very peaceful and quiet.

We stayed in the "Santa Clara" which was one of the most desirable rooms: affordable, beautiful, luxurious.

The "Santa Clara's" two person hot tub was great, but the headboard, wall murals, fireplace, 10-headed shower, and other room decorations were just staggering. Although the bed was large and very comfortable, this was one of the smaller rooms in the Inn and did not feature a sitting chair in the room. It was situated on the second floor.

NO EXPENSE WAS SPARED in the making of this B&B and it is obvious.

We requested and received a tour of a few of the other rooms and really enjoyed: "San Francisco de Asis" (Second Floor), and the "San Diego de Alcala" (First Floor). Some of the rooms we could not see, but I am sure they were all fantastic.

Probably the ideal time to visit is late summer (late August / early September) when the ocean water is warmest, and the seasonal rates are most affordable.

Highly recommended for a peaceful, relaxed vacation.

Criticisms? Only that they should add more room photos to their website for us to plan our next trip.
