I am in the hotel business and while I am writing this review late, it was a totally great stay. This place has a few things other hotels in the US don't have. 1. History, it was built in 1814. It's housed presidents, governors, etc.
2. Class. The pics do not do it justice.
3. Management, this place is run better than any hotel I've been around. Working with a new staff every year and keeping or training 5 star, 5 diamond quality is terrific.
4.location, it is in a great local on the beach and just great!!

What isn't to love about Congress Hall. Something about this place draws my husband and I there anytime we feel the need to just getaway for a few nights. I love sitting by the pool or renting a chair and umbrella on the beach. Walking in town is always a treat. The place is just charming!

Room Tip: Book early! Stay on right wing away from banquet room.

The hotel has a ton of charm, bright rooms and a historic feel. The location is great and an easy walk to the beach and shopping. The rooms, while pretty, don't offer much in peace and quiet, but are decorated simply and beautifully.

Booked a night in Congress Hall. We were lucky to get ocean front king bed on the 400 level. The room was clean, simple and beautiful. Bed was great, sheets and pillows were even better. It was the perfect getaway. Walk to great restaurants, Tisha's to be exact. Great shopping and ice cream right across the street. I also like the free parking they offered. Valet will keep car all day if you check out at 12:00. You can stay formthe whole day with great parking across from beach. I really enjoyed the visit and will go again. Very relaxing.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean front!

Poor poor service. They are trying but do not know what service is. At 12pm at check out time we were told that the valet parking expired and that we must take the car and park it ourselves (ie - you stayed, you paid and now leave). Front desk unhelpful and overall service is just "ok". Rooms are old but overall clean. Location is good and rate are HIGH. TOO HIGH FOR THIS LEVEL OF SERVICE. Food is good but you don't have to stay at the hotel to have it. Was planning to make another reservation for 4th of July BUT decided to go somewhere else.

Not realizing that it is standard in Cape May to come prepared with your own wine bottle to the local restaurants, we asked our server at Tisha's Restaurant for a recommendation as to where to obtain a cocktail. We were sent to Congress Hall, just two blocks away and were treated to expertly prepared cocktails in a beautiful, historic setting. The bar itself was a bit loud, so we took our drinks into the lobby for quiet conversation and a great view. Loved my Sour Cherry Bourbon.

Stayed here for a wedding and was extremely disappointed. At over $300 a night, we returned from the wedding at 10 pm to find out that our room was two floors above the hotel's night club and were kept awake until 1 am with live music. We called down to the front desk twice and were told that they would "regulate the noise". Needless to say, it continued and often seemed louder. The music and crowd sounded as if they were right outside the window. At 6 am we were awakened by a baby next door due to paper thin walls. Hotel management was snarky and unapologetic the next morning. Basically their attitude was "sorry but we're not sorry". We were told that if we stay again, we need to say up front that we want peace and quiet. Are you kidding me?! Can't believe this person works in the hospitality industry. We were comped a lowsy $50 off our bill. Infuriated to be treated this way, we called the general manager who also gave a whole bunch of excuses which included but was not limited to, "we assume that guests of a wedding will go down to the nightclub after the wedding". Again, how can you run a hotel business and make these kind of assumptions about your guests?! We are at fault because we wanted to go to bed before 11 pm and get a good night sleep? The GM offered a free night another time instead of comping the room. As if we would want to go there again knowing the noise problem and rude staff? I think we'll pass. So bottom line, if you want to stay here, make sure you tell them you want "peace and quiet" for $350 a night.

Room Tip: Tell them you do NOT want a room above the night club.
