My husband and I were looking for a last minute get away, within driving distance from our home in Philadelphia to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We chose Cape May, as we have visited before and enjoyed our time. We selected the Montreal Inn due to availability and reasonable rates. The advertisement and booking claimed an ocean front room that was newly renovated and on a high floor. When we arrived the Inn was indeed next to the ocean, and the lobby was newly renovated (as shown in the online photos). We checked in and were given a 4th floor room with an ocean front view. When we arrived to the 4th floor it was evident that the Inn was self renovating and the hallway stunk of what I thought smelled like a nasty chemical. I was pregnant so this was very troublesome. When we arrived to the room it was not renovated, and appeared as half of a bedroom. We quickly realized that we were sleeping in a the smallest hotel room we ever stayed in with a pull down bed. The room appeared clean, but was very aged. The bathroom was terrible. The toilet leaked, and was no more than 6 inches behind the sink, so only one person could be in the bathroom at one time. The shower was the size of a person, and it made it very difficult to shower with no room. We managed through the weekend and made the best of it, but will not stay here again. Our hotel neighbors had children, and they were screaming late at night and early in the morning. We didn't sleep well to say the least.

We are very disappointed we were not made aware of your dissatisfaction immediately upon your arrival to our hotel or at anytime during your visit. We are even more disappointed that we are left only to discover your complaints through this public medium, now, when we can do nothing to remedy the situation. Please be assured that our staff would have done everything possible to assure your 100% satisfaction.

Just for the record, your reservation was made through an Online Travel Agency and they assigned the room, usually selected for you by them based on your preferences for price and availability. Unfortunately, the room that was assigned is part of Phase 3 of a three part major renovation program and is scheduled for a radical makeover for this coming winter. If you visit our website, you will see that there are pictures of both the original rooms and the newly renovated rooms. In fact, there is a picture of the exact room you were assigned. This time next year, I guarantee you will not recognize this room as the same one that was assigned by the OTA.

Now in our 46th season, we have earned the distinction as one of Cape May's favorite lodging choices because of our unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction. We thank you for your comments and cordially invite you back to discover what many of our guests have made, year after year, a vacation tradition for four generations.

We stayed in a deluxe room with a queen bed with an ocean view (room 304). It was our first time in Cape May, and every time we were in the front office (which wasn't often because we really didn't have any issues) the staff was always giving us tips and offering suggestions for things to do. The rooms were spotless and housekeeping did a great job (and quickly)! Some people have complained that the location isn't the best, but I liked it. It's not the busiest part of Cape May so the beach across the street is nice and quiet. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

Stayed at Montreal Inn for weekend in May 2012. Had a mini-suite, two rooms with kitchenette and bath between. Room was clean and well maintained, not fancy but perfect for a small family w/ young child or two. Staff is very friendly, property has nice pool, cabana bar, restaurant, and liquor store on site. Beach is right across the road, plenty of parking, reasonably close to downtown and restaurants. Good find at bargain price.

Room Tip: Mini suites are great for small family

This is our first time in Cape May. After going thru countless hotels, we found the montreal inn. This was a last minute, pre honeymoon honeymoon. If that makes sense. After reading some of the reviews on the way here, we didn't know what to expect. We where very pleasantly surprised. We arrived late and had no hassle. The woman in the office was extremely friendly. Our room is great. Completely remodeled, very fresh and clean. We have a two room king oceanfront with balcony.

The bed is very comfortable. Lots of closet and storage space, including built in shelves. We have a small but very nice kitchen. It includes everything that we could possibly need. The bathroom is roomy, also with built in shelves. They have lotion and soap dispensors on the wall next to the sink and a shampoo, conditioner and shower gel dispensor in the tub. So you never run out and have to track down housekeeping.

Great view of the ocean. What I think is a heated pool & attached hot tub (we havn't gone for a swim yet). They have a great sundeck with lounges and rocking chairs. We made a wrong turn in the hall and see that they have guest laundry and grills. It looks like it would be great for an extended stay and we will definetly be back again.

The only negative things that I have to say, is that the elevator is a bit slow. Also, they appearantly have a continental breakfast, but only on the weekdays when the adjoining restaurant is closed.

We selected this Inn at random, and we're glad we did. Check-in was almost fun. The lady at the desk was a hoot, also very helpful. The rooms had every amenity anyone could possibly want, and it was neat and clean. We were there in the off-season so we are unable to comment on the pool or other in-season activities. The continental breakfast was unremarkable but adequate. We'd go there again.

My wife and I needed a weekend getaway twards the end of April. When you look at some of the other hotels and inns nearby online, it is hard to make a decision based on others experiances. The staff are friendly and courteous. The room that we were in had a queen bed, 2 flat screen tvs, a sitting room off the balcony that faces the ocean with a sofa bed, and a clean, modern bathroom.
We were very inpressed with the modern, clean, well equipped accommidations.
This location is close to the beach, shopping, and a number of eateries.
We will definately be back. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean, I believe, but the upper floors have the best ocean view!

We recently stayed at the Montreal for the weekend. It was the first weekend they were open in 2012. The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. The Hotel sits right on Beach Drive and the view of the ocean is outstanding. Our unit was an efficiency. Very clean including a medium size refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. We always travel with a Keurig but I appreciated the fact it was available. Bathroom was a little tight but hey... it really wasn't a big deal. We love Cape May and this is within walking distance from downtown... it isn't a short walk (approx. a 1/2 mile) but with the ocean view, beautiful homes and the people watching you will not even notice.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor. Also be sure to ask that you aren't need the trash chute... in Apri...
