“Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed 9 August 2008

We have just returned from a week at the Montreal Inn in Cape May. The hotel is magnificent and we had the best service.
The hotel is clean and the services they have to offer are excellent. This hotel looks after all the guest and makes sure that everything is OK. The Hirsch Family who ownes the hotel makes sure that all the guest are looked after. The restaurant is great food and the happy hour is a great happy hour.

What a great place to stay.

The Montreal Inn is a great place for families. The rooms, grounds and pool are all very clean. The owners, reception and maid staff are friendly and helpful and the owners are always there to assist if necessary. The convenience of being right at the beach is great too, especially with little ones. The fact that this hotel is close to everything, yet a couple of blocks away from the boardwalk is best so riding bikes is a bit safer. We stay at this hotel every year and have been doing so since 1999.

Upon arriving to the hotel- one can not help but notice the view. The hotel is right smack on the beach and is one of the only newer hotels in Cape May (not a good thing).

Pros: View, can't beat it. The rates- not too bad for the area- beach fees are INCLUDED (please explain to me exactly HOW New Jersey justifies charging for the OCEAN- they don't own it... that's impossible)

Cons: The room, well let's say- remove the beach, remove the ocean, and you will suddenly find this hotel at your local truck stop. The beds are DISGUSTING and uncomfortable, oh and dirty.
The shower- well at 6am, I was happily greeted by numerous black hairs, no I'm not implying anything... And the rug you use to not fall on your face on the wet floor- rust stains.
Also, the soap is located in a dispenser on the wall, last time I saw this I think was at the local YMCA.

So if you have kids, don't want to pay beach fees, I recommend shopping around. Most hotels in the Cape May area are very old but they are well kept- just call. If you want the truck-Quality Inn-Motel-random hairs-wake up with bites on you- feeling, stay here. It's great for that.

Stayed here for four nights. We had a great time and are already looking forward to returning next year. We had the largest efficiency suite with one bedroom (two queen beds) and a pull-out sofa in the living room. The bedroom was a nice size. When we put down our desposit we were told we booked a room with a balcony looking directly out over the ocean but found out right before we left that our room actually opened up to a large sundeck (still facing the ocean, however). This spoiled the ocean view just a little since there are railings all around, but we could walk out to the end of the sundeck where there were plenty of rocking chairs to enjoy the view. Also, because we were on the sundeck we could use the stairs to get to the pool (this was a real plus). Otherwise you have to enter your room from the back. There are tables and chairs on the sundeck so you can sit outside of your balcony if you want. I noticed families with kids seemed to like the rooms on the sundeck. The room was very clean upon our arrival. The room had an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, fresh clean white towels every day, plenty of pillows (10 in our room), a safe in the room, shampoo and soap dispensers in the bathroom. The maid service was excellent and everyone at the hotel was very friendly. Loved the tiki bar next to the pool. The pool was kept very clean and they provide towels right at the pool. There is also a separate small kiddie pool. Being right across from the beach was great and we were within walking distance to the boardwalk and stores. This hotel also has an elevator. We never had a problem with getting a parking spot although the spaces were quite small. You will enjoy your visit.

Friendly staff, excellent restaurant on premises, clean, and the only hotel in Cape May to offer beach service. Rates are on par with other hotels.

We were hoping for a getaway to relax and have some fun. The Montreal Inn more than met our expectations. We spent the days either relaxing at the beach or lounging by the pool, enjoyed our meals at Cafe Promenade, the restaurant there on the property. Afterwards, we enjoyed a cocktail (or three!) at the tiki bar, where we were able to chat with others also vacationing. If it were not for the beautiful sights to see in Cape May, we would not have felt the need to leave! We had an awsome time, and I can say with confidence that I look forward to returning to The Montreal Inn in the future.

Stayed here for the second year in a row. Had a ocean view queen suite. The room was clean, the bed was fine and the view was great. The bathroom is very small but the hot water works well. The sink backed up one morning and was fixed right away. The front staff personal are all very courtesy and professional, I wanted to mention Bill, Monica and Marcia. We wanted to mention the great job Sharon did keeping the room clean. We made our reservations to return in 2009.
