“Not so grand this time...”

We stayed here last year and have recommended this place to other people. We have liked this hotel, but this year, not so much. The room was in need of repair - a light didn't work, bedspread had holes, the sink didn't drain and the balcony didn't lock. We were in the building and could hear the loud wedding music until 11pm. We were counting down the minutes for it to be over so we could relax. The staff wasn't overly accommodating and one of them was smoking pot in the garage. For $300 a night, I expect a lot better.

The location is great and so is the fact that the trolley stops right in front. We like the indoor pool, especially on the rainy days.

However, with this experience I'll be looking into other hotels on our next trip.

Booked 2 nights midweek and extended 1 more night since we were very chill. King and sofa beds Ocean"view" room just fine. Slept 2 adults and 3 kids ages 10 & under. Reasonably high priced. Hotel & grounds not new but well maintained. Heated outdoor pool, food & drink service, music, I thought I was in the islands. Staff gracious.
Breakfast was hit or miss. Game room needs update. Parking tight.

Had an amazing experience at this hotel. My brother and I needed a room for the night and Nathan who works at the front desk went above and beyond for us! He helped finding us a great room at a really great price! He was very friendly and knowledgeable and truly made our stay and memorable one.

This was our fifth year staying at the Grand Hotel, and we come back every year for a reason: excellent location, clean and quiet rooms, and friendly staff define the Grand. The location can't be beat: close enough to walk to the arcade/town (or take the free trolley if you're not up for the walk), but a bit quieter beach b/c you are away from the main town area. Rooms have always been clean and very quiet (we stay in the Ocean View Efficiency side of the hotel), with a great open hallway to sit out on at night. I have always found the staff, from the check-in folks to the cleaning staff to be most friendly and helpful. Debbie and her front-desk team are always very accommodating (and manage to get us into our same room every year!) -- I really don't get any of the negative comments on here about staff. Even random staff members you run into in the halls, etc., offer a warm hello, etc. The two pools (indoor and outdoor) are perfect for windy/overcast days (although this year we lucked out and spent all of our time on the beach). In the past, we've gone to the Magician and the Nature Center presentations, which are great for kids (of all ages! :)). This is a great place for traveling with kids (our daughter is 5), but is not so overrun with kids and families as to be annoying to single folks. And this year, we got a chance to stay in the Ocean View Townhouse Suites -- AMAZING. Apparently, they were recently renovated, and they are spectacular -- muted lovely seaside colors (love the floors!), marble counter tops, new fixtures, white cabinetry, comfy beds with upscale white cotton linens (w/ duvets). It was just the 3 of us, so we really enjoyed the space to spread out, and the best part was the private balcony facing the ocean. Such a wonderful treat! I would HIGHLY recommend the suites!

Room Tip: Try the Ocean View Townhouse suites -- they were recently renovated, and are spectacular! They are t...

Friends booked this dump so only stayed one night not to embarrass them. Couldn't leave fast enough! First thing piled the god awful bed cover and pillows in the corner and turned down the sheets for some semblance of cleanliness. Found hair on bathroom floor, blood on the bathroom blinds, caulking and grout in disrepair, upholstery stained, deck windows filthy, laundry room an ugly eye sore on the route to an even uglier drab room. NOTHING grand about this long out dated hotel. $180 + tax for this. The ?Grand owes me a refund. Greg Mortensen

We chose The Grand in Cape May because it offered an ideal location with lots to see and do in the area in September. From our first meeting with the sales and catering staff to the event, our experience was outstanding. The Group Sales Manager, Sherrie Hanagan, provided not only exceptional service in getting back to us with any questions we had leading up to the event, but she went over and above to make sure all our needs were met during the three days we enjoyed at The Grand. I would highly recommend this venue and look forward to a return visit.

For years we have been vacationing at The Grand Hotel in Cape May with kids and without. Never a surprise, The beach is so close and the pools are great. Nothing beats the poolside bar and food service. The maids are friendly and efficient and the on-site restaurant Hemmingway's is a terrific place to eat if you do not want to leave the property. This year free trolley service to downtown was added.
