Stayed 2 nights with my family of 4 for a football game at MetLife Stadium. Hotel is conveniently located to the stadium (a quick 5 minute ride away), but in a very rundown section of town. The surrounding buildings are mostly abandoned, but no real strange characters hanging around...just didn't get a warm & fuzzy feeling about the area.
Highway outside the hotel is separated by a barrier, so you are only able to turn right out of the hotel parking lot (and must turn around down the road to head back toward the stadium).
Check-in was easy. Front desk was very welcoming. Smallish rooms, but very clean. Comfy beds, and a nice size, modern bath with good water pressure.
The main complaint of the whole stay was the very poor Wi-Fi reception. It ranged from spotty, to pretty much non-existent...so don't plan on streaming movies or working online from inside your room.
The free breakfast in the morning was really good. Scrambled eggs or omelettes, bacon & sausage, & their signature hot cinnamon rolls...in addition to your standard toast, muffins, cereal, & yogurt.
Coffee & fruited ice water was always available in the lobby, which was a nice touch.
Took the kids to the pool. It was small, and quite chilly, so we didn't stay long.
There is a restaurant directly next door (walking distance) to the hotel (called Mr. G's), but did not try it.
And there was a commercial strip mall-type area less than a mile away...with several quick service places (Salad Works, Five Guys, Chipotle, etc), as well as a Chili's restaurant. (Given the area & the distance, I wouldn't plan on walking to that though.)
Overall, we had a nice weekend stay here. And the value for our stay couldn't be beat (a nice modern room, close to the stadium, with breakfast included...all at a very fair price).
We would most likely stay here again next time we're heading to an event at the stadium...especially if we got a similar price. We just know not to expect Wi-Fi next time.
