I used to stay at this property pretty frequently as Red, Hot & Blue once held the title of 'Best Hotel Bar' in the northeast in my heart. Over time I've watched both the formerly outstanding customer service and the quality of the rooms deteriorate so I now stay at the Crowne up the road when in the area. Gave this place another shot after almost two years and was reminded why I stopped staying here. For one, the whole building smelled of some chemical (turpentine or paint stripper perhaps) the day I checked in. One of the keys the desk clerk made me didn't work and I got locked out of my room one afternoon; it is a LONG walk back to the front desk when you are carrying bags and polished off a 20 Oz coffee. Most of the rooms, maybe all, still have ill-fitting connecting doors so be prepared to hear your neighbor's bodily functions, phone calls, etc. My carpet was frayed and torn and the bathroom door showed signs of damage that had never been addressed. The rooms are almost completely void of outlets save one six-block outlet by the desk. I don't know how that makes sense... "here, you can plug in your phone or alarm clock or sleep apnea machine on the opposite side of the room." Old crowne plazas have a connectivity device on each night stand for usb, ac plugs etc... why does this elude the holiday Inn? This could be a very nice property as it has two pools, a very nice lobby, guest laundry, one of the few non-crowne ihg properties to still offer room service... but they just don't seem to try. Also, there was some vacation club company monopolizing the lobby... it was entertaining to watch washed up and entry level salesmen trying to peddle subpar faux timeshares to rubes while I waited for my colleagues to meet me in the lobby... but nobody wants to deal with that mess. Keep those chumps restricted to the conference room (s) they rented. The Internet connectivity is on par with that you might find in the third world. Even an lcd monitor in the hallway displayed the classic "no Internet connection" screen. I got booted off at least 4 times while trying to work. They did allow me to play "guess which one of the 17 Holiday Inn WiFi connections is currently functioning" for my troubles though. Bleck! Straighten out this mess...
