The Sheraton Hotel in Raritan Center is a hotel that we have stayed at before. When they closed for renovations we were excited to see how everything looked and checked in this past August while visiting family nearby.

The rooms had different bedspreads, the sinks had new vanities, there were new rugs but nothing else seemed to be updated. We had a room that had a broken air conditioner. We were told it was repaired while we were out and when it still didn't work we were told someone would be up to fix it again. We did change rooms instead of waiting. It was August and hot. We had two children with us and unless you want to pay for an additional room, one room is really not adequate. Since our trip consists mostly of visiting friends and family, we do not spend a lot of time in the hotel so we did not spend the money on an extra room.

Compared to other hotels in the area the price was higher and the amenities were comparable but not better. The kids did love the pool area which did not receive any updates in the renovations. Always a shortage of towels but that is pretty common in any hotel. Due to the elevator not working properly you had to walk in a confusing maze that took you outside to get to the pool but it was at least summer.

So I would say that if you can't get a room at another place nearby, do stay at the Sheraton. It is nice but check your heat or air before you get settled in.

We had 2 rooms, all on Starwood points, and had free buffet breakfast for all of us in the morning plus free h'ordeuvres in the evening. the all-you-can eat buffet breakfast was really good, better than expected. The rooms were clean. We needed a safe clean stop-over place and we were very impressed with this hotel. We had read some of the reviews and were expecting a dive, or a miserable experience, and some of those reviews are harsh....the hotel and the rooms were fantastic. It's sheraton quality, no worries, it's just in the middle of nowhere just off the highway, can't ever hear the highway. It's not busy -- so you get great service. We drove, and so the location is excellent from the hotel. Very good value with or without starwood points.

Stayed one night only after a conference that I was attending. The location was close to the conference center so it was good for my purposes to get to quickly and get rest as it was a early start the next day. If you are looking for places to eat or things to do, the location may not be the best as it does not appear close to anything else except the corporate centers.

The room was comfortable, had a nice flat screen tv with your basic cable offerings. Did not utilize the amenities so don't know about them, but apparently the hotel was renovated not too long ago, so I'm sure they would be ok. Enjoyed my stay overall.

Nice hotel - used Starwood points - bargain at 3000 points, and 1000 points for an upgrade. 'Upgraded' rooms are the same as regular rooms but club lounge is closed on the weekends - they gave us free breakfast vouchers - initally only 2 but when pressed they also gave breakfast vouchers for my 2 kids. Breakfast very basic with assorted hot and cold items. Will return if again in the area using points.

We checked in for a lesiure convention on Friday, August 21st, intending on staying until Monday the 24st. Instead we checked out early. The temperature in the room was so hot and uncomfortable, we could hardly stand dressing. Our makeup was running and sweat was pouring off of us, and that's after complaining once already the day before of the temperature of the room. The thermostadt said 69 degrees.. the temp in the room was 78 and the a/c was apparently "running." Maintenance came up on Friday and the a/c cooled down a bit, but by the next day, the temp was off and running again. When we left to go out on Saturday night, the temp was 78 degrees again.. and we complained once again. It was "remedied" that night but the next day, by 11am, the temp was back up to 77. We realized we couldn't stand another day of hot and sweaty, so we checked out. Others we talked to said that they're rooms were extremely hot as well. My guess is that they keep the temperature up way way high to save money, until someone complains and they'll drop it for a day. I heard the Hilton across the street had much nicer rooms and atmosphere for a lower rate.

I stayed there for the first time two weeks ago...and I got many bed bug bites and had an allergic reaction... BEWARE !!!!! I had a wedding to go to the next day and couldn't even make it there because the rashes I had.

Also...we had reserved a double bed room but they didnt have any rooms left when we arrived at the hotel apparently ...so they gave us a roll-in bed..and charged us an extra $40..because THEY didnt have the room available when we had already made our reservation in advance...

And.. in the room..the A/C wasn't working...we had reported that to the front desk at least THREE times...and they never sent anyone to fix it.

never going there again.

We decided to stay at the Sheraton at Edison due to the proximity to our friend's home. I booked the hotel through the SPG call center, who then confirmed the rate via email. When we checked out of the hotel, they quoted our room rate $30+ higher than the confirmation email. We paid the rate so we could check out and contacted billing dept the following Monday. I had to send a copy of the confirmation email to billing to receive our credit. What a hassle! Please watch your bill when traveling to this hotel.

Also, if your are a preferred member, don't bother with the club floor for the amenities on the weekend. The club lounge is not serviced during the weekends (no water/juices/etc). I'm assuming the rooms were slightly larger than standard rooms but you couldn't really tell. Also, the air wasn't on in the corridors. Thank goodness you had the ability to control the temperature in the room.

On the positive side, the rooms were clean and it was a good value for a weekend stay.
