What we like about the Courtyard Newark Elizabeth:

1. SERVICE - check-in is a breeze. My requests (room near lift, early check in, etc) are always noted and provided. Staff are very accommodating and friendly (esp Mr Teddy and Ms Euville). I had packages sent to the hotel before my arrival - the entire staff took care of my packages. I had one big box with me, the staff approached me to carry the box to the shuttle bus! And the bus driver dropped us off directly in our terminal knowing that it was going to be a challenge for us to carry our stuff from the usual drop off point at newark airport. Honestly, the service was truly commendable.

2. LOCATION - There is a shuttle service that brings you from the airport to the hotel. Hotel is located near a Ruby Tuesday and another diner, and it's a 5-minute walk to the Jersey Gardens outlet mall. If you want to go to New York, you can take the shuttle to the airport where you can take the train to Manhattan. Shuttle bus will also bring you to and from the Jersey Gardens.

3. PRICE - reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the area. Parking is free, internet is complimentary.

4. FACILITIES - The rooms are newly renovated, well lit with natural lighting. Flat screen LCD tv that you can twist to face the bed or the working table. Individual thermostat in the room. In-room amenities are nothing extraordinary - soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Hotel has a fitness center, ice vending machines in each floor. Complimentary internet and printing on the ground floor. Self-service trolleys available.

We are obviously repeat customers of the Courtyard Newark Elizabeth. We always stay here when we arrive in New York, and we always arrive via Newark due to the non-stop flight from Singapore. It is no wonder we keep on coming back to this hotel, given the service that we receive from the fantastic staff of this hotel. This hotel will not give you luxurious amenities. Courtyard Newark Elizabeth will give you clean, tastefully furnished rooms coupled with personalized service at reasonable rates. Sounds good to me.

We got a great deal on this hotel at only $90.00 per night from expedia.ca
We were not expecting miracles but were very pleasantly surprised!
The hotel was located in what appeared to be a newlt constructed area of Elizabeth NJ, it was very clean and well kept. The service we received from this hotel was fantastic the front desk attendant, I believe his name was Ted or Teddy, was extremely friendly and went out of his way to show up several options on how to get to mid town Manhattan. The rooms were immaculate and the beds were very comfortable. We had asked for pillows and they were delivered immediately. I had absolutely no reservations about leaving my brand new laptop sitting on the desk while we were out and about the entire day. Parking was included in the price of the room, and the parking lot was spacious and safe, there was a gated entrance which was accompanied by a guard most times. Breakfast was served fresh but was extremely expensive at nearly $15 per person.
Overall this hotel was a great surprise, it's located directly across the street from a huge mall with some great buys! Rooms were very clean, safe and comfortable. Service was second to none and staff could not have been friendlier!
Definitely a recommendation for anyone traveling with a family or alone!

First off you'll need to understand that the choice of this Marriott Courtyard was made primarily for its location between family and friends as well as its proximity to the airport (without being in the airport). We expected a business class hotel and that is what we got. The hotel is right outside Newark airport, about 10 minutes from the Hertz rentals. If you are driving and are not used to New Jersey roads then study maps. New Jersey is the land of spaghetti bowl roads. The hotel is located across from the Jersey Gardens Mall and next to other Marriott establishments.

Don't expect anything from the local area. It is near Elizabeth Seaport, railroad tracks and the airport. Aside from the mall there is nothing in the immediate area that will draw you unless you're in town to go to big box stores that are also nearby.

Considering the fact that jets are continually passing over the place toward the airport I was relieved that the sound proofing reduced the noise so that it did not interfere with our sleep. If you are a light sleeper this may not be the place for you.

We had breakfast once in the lobby and it was good but maybe a bit pricey. I was initially confused between the buffet and menu items but the staff cleared things up.

Slightly surprised to see 3-4 ants strolling around our bathroom but that was the extent of what I saw of the insect life. During our second stay a week later (after returning from Niagara falls) I did not see any ants.

Very happy about the free internet (by cable) in the rooms and wifi in the lobby. Other more expensive Marriotts we stayed at later provided it for a fee.

I found out after the fact from my wife that she was kept awake by drunken revelers in a nearby room. Hard for a hotel to prevent that plus we did not report it so I can't blame them for it. It was a Saturday night and I think a group of ladies were letting their hair down.

Parking was a breeze, never had a problem.

Front desk staff was great.

My husband and two kids ages 6 and 8 stayed here for one night during a road trip from upstate Ny to Washington DC. The area of Elizabeth NJ where the hotel is a very industrial and a little yucky looking, so I was a little nervous driving there. However, it was a nice suprise. It is located in a cluster of hotels, with a Ruby Tuesdays and another restaurant right next door you could walk to for dinner. It was very clean, and the suite/rooms were large and clean. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was good, they had coffee, juice, cereal, bagels, donuts, english muffins, and make your own belgium waffles. The pool was small but clean, and there was a large hot tub too. The kids were in the pool and hot tub all night and morning. There was a very rowdy group of people at the pool when we first got there, splashing and yelling and jumping in, the kids were afraid to go in the pool at first. I almost complained but then they left. Overall, it was a very good experience.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in March. This was our second time staying at the hotel and we were impressed by the renovated rooms. The hotel is in a great location - opposite Jersey Gardens - and they offer a free airport shuttle that runs very much on time. Staff were very pleasant throughout our stay. We will definitely return to stay here again in the future.

Our annual trip to the US is for shopping and a bit of sightseeing. We usually stay in Manhattan and day trip to Jersey Gardens. This year we decided to stay nearer to the shopping outlet and chose the Courtyard Marriott.
On arrival at JFK the taxi charge to Elizabeth was €170.00 - which didn't include a tip.
We decided to travel like tourists and got a shuttle bus which went into Manhattan and out to Newark Airport for 26 dollars each. We picked up the Courtyard Marriott complimentary shuttle at the airport straight to the hotel - the round trip took a little over an hour.
Check in at the hotel was friendly and efficient, the hotel lobby was comfortable and spacious. We were delighted with our room, 2 very cosy double beds, plenty of room and spotlessly clean.
There is complimentary tea and coffee available in the lobby 24 7, the area was clean and well stocked.
Buffet breakfast was included in our rate, there was a great selection and plenty of it.
Jersey Gardens shopping outlet is directly across the road from the hotel. For those who have never been there we would highly recommend it, all shops are under one roof, there are trolleys available, a big food court with lots of choices and no tax on clothing or shoes.
The value we got this year in designer clothes, footwear and bags was unbelievable.
We would advise using the shuttle bus to the shopping outlet, even though it's only across the road. After our first full day shopping we decided to walk back to the hotel, it took us 20 minutes to cross the road !!
The Jersey Gardens Diner is around the corner from the hotel, it's spotlessly clean and the food is very good.
Take the walk, we ordered a takeaway from here one night and it was muck !!
There is a lovely ambience in the Courtyard Marriott, very peaceful and quiet. Even though it's beside Newark Airport the airtraffic noise is not a problem, it didn't keep us awake or disturb us in any way.
We travelled up to Manhattan for the last few days of our trip, we got the complimentary shuttle to Newark Airport and a shuttle bus directly to our hotel, it was 19 dollars each and again took a little over an hour.
We loved tea and coffee on tap
Great location for shopping in Jersey Gardens
We loved the peace and quiet of the area

Stayed a few nights on different occassions in Jan. Have stayed here in the past, and this is not my first choice of property in EWR area mainly due to staff. Rooms are in the process of being remodeled, however old tvs with poor picture quality. Do like the new colors. Housekeeping is horrible in the public areas (corridors, elevators). There were 2 housekeeping carts and a plunger in front of my room throughout my stay. Repeated requests for a blanket ended up with a mattress cover being sent up. Ice machine leaked water everywhere on the 4th floor. Occupancy was low yet the place was a mess. Brought my concerns to the Mgr. It must be Marriott training to ask "is there anything else I can do for you?" whenever there is a problem. A solution/ accomodation should be offered instead of this open ended question, then the guest can work through the issue with the staff and find some common ground. Was disappointed to say the least.

Location of the property is good for EWR airport. The outlet mall with many food options is right across the street as well as Ruby Tuesdays and a new Diner. Be aware Sunday mornings when the hotel gets busy with the church services contained in the meeting rooms. I still feel the best value in EWR area is the Fairfield Inn - much more consistent and staff service is top notch and indicative of 5 star hotels. Will stay here next time.
