“Nice but VERY $$$$$$”
Reviewed 13 January 2010

We love to stay at B&B's, and have stayed in many. The Widow McCrea is a very nice choice...HOWEVER their prices have become almost impossible to meet. The cottage at almost $300.00 a night is OUTRAGEOUS!! Lynn, in the past, had the establishment pretty much booked to capacity on a regular basis. Now, however, there are MANY openings. In these economic times, I think it would be wise for the owners to make their prices more realistic. I'm sure in the long run they would be making a much larger profit due to an increase in bookings.

My wife and I recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a two night stay at this charming inn. We chose the Anne James Suite which is spacious and very comfortable. The fireplace is a great amenity in these cold months. Innkeepers Lynn and Burt are friendly and very anxious to make their guests comfortable and relaxed. Lynn is a wonderful chef and the incredible breakfasts are not to be missed. Ask for local area dining suggestions and follow your hosts' advice. THey know the area and will not steer you wrong. Describe the type of meal you have in mind, determine the price range and you will be set. There is an abundance of veryy fine dining within a 20 minute drive. I would heartily recommend a stay at this wonderful inn.

My boyfriend whisked me away to this charming place and what a wonderful time it was! We stayed in the Anne James room which was spacious, luxurious, just perfect. The room has a fireplace--(Gas. There's a wood burning one in the common area on the main floor.)--a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi and a complimentary bottle of wine.
Breakfast consisted of a perfectly prepared baked pear (yummy!) homemade muffins and the most interesting challah french toast i've ever seen, with a berry/Grand Marnier syrup.

My husband and I spent this past weekend at the Widow McCrea House in Frenchtown. It was a wonderful weekend. Our room was elegantly decorated and very clean. Trust me on this as I am extremely fussy in this regard. The breakfasts were amazing! The innkeeper was charming and helpful when we needed suggestions for area activities and right on the button with restaurant recommendations and was able to get reservations for us upon request.

We rented bikes and cycled down to Lambertville and back on Saturday. It was a bit long and took us most of the day, but worth it. The Delaware River is a very beautiful place to ride.

The second day we went up to Nockamixon Lake in PA to a riding stable where were went on another beautiful excursion. The horses were well kept and a pleasure to ride (and much more comfortable since you don't have to pedal - haha).

The weekend was truly a pleasure. I can't wait to return. I will be recommending the Widow McCrea House to friends and family.

We've stayed in Bucks County six times before but this was the first time we traveled with our daughter who is 3.5. The Kase Cottage is the perfect little place to stay for a family with small children.

We all squeezed into the queen size bed which was very comfy but there is also a pull-out sofa. Having a kitchenette and a table really enhanced the experience though it felt like we were staying in our own private cottage and not a B&B.

The private garden in back was also a plus as was our own parking spot right in front of the cottage was very convenient, though several times, guests checking in were parked there so we had to park elsewhere. The owners might add a sign that indicates that the spot is for "Kase Cottage Guests Only."

The hot breakfast every morning was good but only available between 9 and 10 so if you're an early riser, keep that in mind. You also need to call to ask them to bring breakfast and if you drink coffee or tea, you need to make your own in the room - a coffee pot and coffee and tea is provided.

There are two fountains outside of the cottage. The one in front is on a timer that goes off at 11 pm and the one in back can be turned off by the staff. If you're a sensitive sleeper, ask them to turn it off. It made it difficult for me to fall asleep, even with the windows closed.

My daughter had fun in the jacuzzi tub. It's so large you could probably bathe three kids or at least two adults in there. I was worried that we'd run out of hot water before it filled up but there was plenty. If you prefer a shower, there's a separate shower stall.

The first few nights were slightly cool so we used the gas-fireplace. That was a nice touch and made the cottage very cozy. The last night we were there, it was quite warm. Opening all of the windows and running the fans made it extremely comfortable.

All in all, it was a great place to stay. Extremely convenient to the middle of town - 0.4 miles to be exact - and totally walkable. If we decide to stay in Frenchtown again, we'd definitely stay at the Kase Cottage again.

We had a great stay in the Kase Cottage! It felt like our own English cottage out in the country somewhere. The are wide-plank hardwood floors, beams on the ceiling and a fireplace (gas) with a beautiful mantle. The antique furniture and beautiful brass bed are classy and impeccably accessorized. We originally planned to stay only one night, but were so glad we managed to get away for 2. It was wonderful to have the cottage to come "home" to after a day of hiking and shopping.

Breakfast is delivered in a basket to the door, and the kitchenette made it possible to stock a few things for a light lunch. There's a private courtyard in the back, very quaint, though it wasn't warm enough for us to sit out. One other nice touch -- along with a DVD player, flat screen TV, and CD player (housed in an antique amoire), there was a nice selection of books, area guides and a few novels. Made me feel right at home.

One extra note - the back entrance is flat, no stairs, if that's useful to you.

Many good restaurants in the area, Lynn was happy to make recommendations. This was an anniversary weekend, and one of the nicest getaways we've had in a long time.

The Widow McCrea House is a lovely Victorian B&B with beautiful rooms and delicious home cooked breakfast. The Anne-James suite is spacious and the jacuzzi and fireplace add a nice touch. The location is perfect and close to several local wineries, great restaurants and shopping. It's a short drive to New Hope and lots of antiquing. Burt and Lynn are very gracious hosts, with lots of stories about the local history and recommendations for things to do and places to eat. We'll stay here again!
