We continue to return here again & again. The food is great and the friendly atmosphere is unbeatable . They have the BEST French Onion soup anywhere!

“The Pump House”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2013

We have dined at the Pump House at least twice a month for the last 10 years and have never had a bad meal. The owner is very personable and always makes time to greet us and make us feel welcome. As at most restaurants the portions have gotten a little smaller in recent years, but the prices have stayed steady. There is a loyal crowd, mostly folks in their 50's and the atmosphere is friendly and homey. My suggestions would be to change up the menu more often and evaluate the wait staff more closely.

“Our Favorite Place for Date Night!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

After reading the last couple of reviews of this restuarant, I can't believe the previous reviewers ate at the same place!!! We go here often, because it is consistantly great....For our last trip, we started with the escargot and clam appetizer, perfectly cooked and very flavorful...Yes, they are served in the shell and are easily removed with picks/forks supplied...Our main courses were the alaskian king crab special and crabmeat stuffed chicken breast, both generous portions, and seasoned well....I disagree totally about the service here, we NEVER want for anything....Cocktails served immediately, the owner and staff are ALWAYS there to refill your glass and ask if there is anything else you need...I really like their choice of salads and their house dressing!!! This time we finished our meal with key lime pie, which completed another wonderful dinner...Dining inside, at the bar or by the river has always been a pleasurable experience here for lunch or dinner and a place we recommend!!!!

“Not Pumped up”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

Avoid this restaurant. I ordered escargots as an appetizer. Overcooked to the point that they were hard and baked into the shell. When I complained, the waitress said - "Yes that happens. You should have asked us to take them out of the shell in the kitchen." Clearly the escargots were frozen & overdone in a microwave. Main dish - "Yankee Pot Roast" was dry, masked with a thick gravy on gritty mashed potatoes (may well have been instant potatoes). Another diner ordered their special shrimp dish. Rubbery & overcooked shrimp. Again, I suspect frozen, not fresh. There were 4 of us. The waitress mis-served the salads and the main course. No offer was made to comp or discount for the poor appetizer. On the contrary, the bill was $138 & we gave them two credit cards & asked for a 50-50 split. The checks came back at $70 a piece and the owner / manager refused to void and rerun the cards. "Too much work" and suggested we take the difference out of the tip. Never again. Stay away. On the plus side, the bartender poured a nice cocktail and parking is easy because the lot is almost empty.

“so-so”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2013

The Pump House is a quaint restaurant, decorated colonial style. One would believe it would be a fine time for food and drink. We gathered with friends to eat and chat. No reservations were made in advance, which, we were somewhat scolded for. Our server would not exactly win an award for being cordial and polite. The majority of us ordered cheeseburgers. Fries were offered...sweet potato fries, but not listed on the menu. When my husband asked for regular fries, the response was quick and curt, "Nope, all we have our sweet potato fries." Our party grew as the evening went on...late comers, whom were not exactly welcomed by the server or hostess. It seemed that our group was more of a PITA to the restaurant. The bill came, we paid, and pretty much were ignored after that; not even asking if we would like another drink, water or anything at all. Quite the contrary...get the h_ _ _ out of here! We left, with no plans to return. The bill, for 5 burgers, a few beers, one glass of wine and a two desserts was a pricey $138. plus a tip. And the burgers were OK. Although we enjoyed ourselves, I would not recommend The Pump House. I hear there have been other comments in regards to the way they treat customers and run their business.
