wow, what an experience, as I approached the center of Hightstown, there next to the Lake was a charming Tavern with an expansive porch/deck filled with families eating. The scenery was fantastic. And the steaks were awesome. a little on the high priced side, but worth every penny of the 22$ for the dinner. My traveling companion had a large hamburger, not as expensive as the steak. She was very pleased and she is a picky eater. There was a decent selection of beers. There was something special about how you experiece the NJ Pike with all its construction and newly painted traffic pattens and then, five minutes later; wha la, you are seating on the porch over looking the Lake in a historic building forgeting the traffic and enjoying one of the best steaks you may ever eat.
