“Very good value for money!”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

For the price you pay you simply won't find anything as good as this in the NYC area! Overall I was very impressed, the place was quiet and homely, our room was clean, had cable tv, wi-fi and everything else you could need and the cooked breakfast was good. My only slight complaint would be that the service wasn't overly friendly. The lady who ran the place while we stayed was almost always on her cell phone during breakfast and didn't service our room - the part time girl however was much more chatty, made our beds and replenished our drinks so a big thanks to her! I would definitely stay again if in the area.

Pro: clean, great price, Lonnie very easy to work with. Has refrig in kitchen, lots of room and food. First room suite has million dollar view of manhattan. Closet space good. Stairs almost killed me (out of shape). Second room downstairs on first floor 2 bedrooms was spacy. Shower small. Very Large beds. Walk to subway 10 minutes. Con : driveway parking too too small especially when other guest hog up the space! Parking in street only 2 hrs. Place a little dated. But on a budget is fine. WHY the mayor/governed doesn't fix that neighborhood?!? Million dollar view in ghetto like environment. That place could be worth tons with upscale condos with shops. Staff was wonderful!!!

"It's cheap" is the best thing I can say about it, that and you get what you pay for. The sheets were never changed, and "nobby" because they are worn. The upper floors always smell of bacon and eggs because that's where the smoke goes from the kitchen (believe me it gets old). Old tooth paste in the cupboards, hair in the worn out bath matt, hair in the shower, mold in the corners of the shower. Apparently that woman that makes your breakfast expects a tip (we didn't realize that) after the first day if you don't tip her, the room doesn't get attention. Owner lives on the middle floor, laundry is in the room on the bottom floor. If you don't get up and out soon enough, you will get a knock on the door because she needs to get some laundry done...ridiculous. Will never go back...
First red flag should have been when they ask for payment in full up front - DON'T DO IT!

Having lived in Jersey City for 25 years and returning after an 8 year absence, I felt very much at home. The B&B is intimate, and hospitable. It was fun and inspiring to meet folks from other parts of the globe, the innkeeper and his family, and the caretaker/chef. The place is immaculately kept,
breakfast was very well made and and the innkeeper catered to our every taste. We found the neighborhood interesting and convenient to all forms of transportation. The view of NYC was amazing! Staying in Jersey City is affordable and a multi-cultural experience.

I lived in this place from 2nd june till 6th june, it was amazing and so comfortable. Rooms are spacious and very clean, what ever you need is there, internet speed is fast. It is a 10 minute walk from journal square station but you can hire a cab for just 5 dollars - it called A1 taxi or just walk up Burgen Avanue and after 4 blocks just opposite Burgen Church you will find Mercer street and it is just at the end of the road looking up New Jersey and New York City. what ever price quoted on the website is a steel deal. If you want to buy grocery just walk up to Burgen Avenue , you will fine Burger King or Italian Pizza and many Chinese restaurants and most important of all if you are looking to buy Alcohol then walk up till burger king and the street next to it after 100 meters you will find a the store, so thats it.

How to get there from JFK just take the air train to Jamica Station and then take a 5 dollar ticket to exit make sure you fill at least 10 dollars in it and then change to the E train till WTC station or chambers street make sure the E train is upto WTC some time it changes to 4th street just get off that station and walk up and get the train to chamber street they both are the same and then after you get off at WTC or chambers street just look for PATH rail which is just 3 minutes walk and you can use the same metro card there too remember Path train just connects New Jersey and New york it does not go around any where else to rome around in New York you will have to use the MTA i.e Subway - after you enter the path mail station get to track 4 or 5 and then board the train get off at journal square and walk up to burgens Avenue and you are there, Cheers and have a good time one more thing if you want to have a good view of the NY and NJ skyline then spend few dollars extra and get the SUIT it is work all the penny I promise ....cheers Joy Bose

Room Tip: Take the Suit for few dollars extra it is worth all the penny

this b&b is over rating for not even 2, is the worst place i ever stayed, the breakfast is same everyday, has no taste and dry. The woman who work was unfriendly, busy talking on her cell phone but the part time lady she was very nice and pleasant. The sheets was never changed. Our room is junk room, (i wish i took a picture), was very expensive too. Beware if the place is non refundable that mean something. Stayed this pkace is the worst.
