“Wonderful restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

Food was delicious. All four of us enjoyed our meals-veal caprice, butterflied shrimp with spinach, lamb chops with mushrooms and filet of beef. The highlight of this meal was the impeccable service, rarely found anywhere else. Restaurant was definitely pricey, but nice for a special occasion.

“Surly waiter lowers my rating”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

The food is very good; the setting is very beautiful; and the prices are quite reasonable for the business-oriented Jersey City waterfront. On a weeknight the restaurant was far less than half full, but service was a big problem. My evening was nearly ruined by our waiter whose accented English was very difficult to understand. What I objected to was that he thought nothing of repeatedly interrupting our conversation in mid-sentence, because to him, what he had to say was more important than our conversation. This is just plain wrong and after the fourth interruption I told him so. So he "punished" us by never returning! We had to ask busboys or the host for anything we needed after that due to his petulance and immaturity. Despite the good food, good prices and nice location we will never return. Why is it that increasingly, these days servers think that the patrons are there for their benefit, rather than the other way around? Don't they understand that the their tips are based on the level of service received?

“Best Food in Jersey City!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

Definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in Jersey City...if not the state. Check out their menu on their website, and try not to drool on yourself. Great wine selection also. It is going to cost you over a hundred dollars with one bottle of wine. So its a place for that special occasion if this is a little pricey for your budget.

Its a block from Exchange Place train station, and the light rail is right at their front door. Super easy to commute to if you don't want to drive. I had the Short ribs and they were excellent! My date had the fish special, a Broncino dish, that was eqaully as terrific. So Enjoy!

“Another Winner by Michael Cetrulo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

We dined on Saturday evening at Porto Leggero, another great restaurant owned by Chef Cetrulo. I had the Bronzino Livornese which was fresh and delicious with just the right balance of capers and olives. My husband had the special, the roasted Alaskan king salmon which was also moist and flavorful. The prices are average for NJ and the potions, just right. The desserts were equally decadent. I had the chocolate painted phyllo filled with chocolate mousse and whipped cream (also my favorite at Il Mondo Vecchio) and my husband enjoyed the tiramisu complimented with an amaretto laced vanilla gelato. I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, except for one small criticism - the Italian bread. Jersey City has some of the oldest and best bread bakeries in NJ, and I think they need to find a better supplier. Hint: try Pecoraro's downtown. The waiter was attentive, but not obtrusive, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. This restaurant is top notch!
