very easy to find, convenient, clean, relatively inexpensive, comfortable bed. Excellent to have free parking, and very friendly. Refrigerator in room, free internet, microwave available in hallway. But! lots of noise from other people - could hear everything in the hallways, faucets and toilets running, etc. Because of the noise inside the hotel, I don't know if I would stay again. Maybe, in a pinch....but only if it were my only option.

I stayed here to attend a 4-day seminar at the Westin in Jersey City, which was a 10-min walk from my hotel and over twice the price even with the discount offered to seminar attendees. My room had a frig with a working freezer compartment and a microwave, and everything was great. They also had free Wi-Fi in the rooms. In fact, I liked it better than the Crowne Plaza in Zurich because it had those features and more space! The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The only thing that was not optimal was that our room had a view of the Holland Tunnel entrance with the accompanying traffic noise (people honk constantly because of cars getting stuck in the intersection), so I would recommend you request a room on the non-street side of the motel. The noise is not so bad at night so it's really not a big deal if you're out during the day. The service was great except that one day they did not give me my wake-up call, and I was already up well before the requested time so I know I didn't sleep through it. Otherwise, a perfectly functional motel and they include free breakfast with an assortment of pastries. For $86 per night even on the weekend, you can't beat it. I would definitely go back again.

We found the Holland Tunnel Motor Lodge to be just perfect for us. The price cannot be beat and the accomodations are just what we were looking for. We had a king room and was accomadating for two but no more. Rooms were average but very clean,. The pick up at the hotel for the tour of NY city was great. The bus driver was a experienced and offered a mini tour himself while picking up the other customers. Free parking, shopping mall, quick food, and the PATH station are well within walking distance and never did we feel unsafe. The pastries/cereals and coffee/juices in the morning were all we needed to get started. Staff was very helpful and we would definitely stay at the Lodge again when in the area.

I have recently spent 3 nights in the Holland motor lodge on a holiday to the United States. What a fantastic hotel!
It is located right in front of the Holland tunnel which leads into New York City and it is a 10 minute walk away from the PATH, which is an underground train service that will take you to various destinations in NYC and NJ
The rooms, albeit a little small, are good and very clean with satellite TV, safe, iron, microwave and fridge among other amenities. Also, the bathrooms, again a little small, are extrmely clean with bath and shower.
Breakfast is served in the lobby and is very nice, consisting of various pastries, orange, fruit, cereals, oatmeal (porridge for UK readers!) hot chocolate, tea and coffee.
However, some bagels, toast would have been nice and there is no chairs and tables to sit on in the lobby area so you have to either take the food up to your room or eat outside (which is very enjoyable in nice weather).
Staff are very helpful except for one receptionist and they all seem to be Spanish, so it might help if you're a multilingual person! Maid service is daily and Wi Fi is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is a mile away from Liberty park, where you can catch a ferry to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty (that's a lot of liberties!)
BE WARNED. GO EARLY IN THE DAY!!
Also nearby are around 5 gas (petrol) stations and a shopping mall which contains many eating places and shops.
The surrounding area is very safe and I felt secure when I returned from NYC at 11pm.

Overall, a very good hotel which is basic, but has everything you need for a base when visiting NYC. The free parking is a fantastic bonus and I was very pleased to have this amenity. Fantastic stay, and thank you Holland Motor Lodge!

I stayed with my family for 3 nights and the hotel was just great. It was very clean with a friendly staff. I thought that it was fairly quiet considering the location. I was facing the street for the Holland Tunnel and could hear occasional honking or light traffic noise but overall that's it. My sister staying a room on the other side of the hotel didn't hear a thing the entire time we were there. The other people staying at the hotel were mostly families taking a NYC vacation trip and were not loud or obnoxious. I think we all came back from the city tuckered out from all the sightseeing.

The hotel is in a perfect location for many of the destinations in the area. There is about a 10+ minute walk to the subway or light rail train and from there you can go almost anywhere in New York City. For something different you can take a tour bus right from the hotel (costs about $65 per person). Liberty State Park is only a mile away and an easy drive to go see the Statue of Liberty. Tip: reserve your tickets ahead of time via the internet as the lines are sometimes long at the park. There is a mall next door to the hotel if you want to go shopping or see a movie. Restaurants and a grocery store are all in walking distance. Some of the restaurants in the area deliver.

The hotel is not fancy but it's well kept. The rooms aren't huge but they have comfortable beds and many cable channels on the TV (no HBO). There is a free locking safe in the room for a laptop or valuables. There is also a fridge and a microwave. The bathroom is small but clean. Basic wireless internet is free but if you want faster internet service you need to pay a fee to the internet company via credit card ($10 for one week fast internet).

The hotel provides a free basic breakfast of cereal, oatmeal, juice, coffee, fruit, and many different types of pasteries. You have to take the food to your room however as the lobby is very small and has no tables. There is a Burger King next door so you can also have breakfast there as an option. As some have mentioned before the coffee and baked goods are available throughout the day which is nice. There is also a laptop with a printer in the lobby so you can look up things to see in the city and print out maps or directions.

This is a nice basic place to stay after a long day of sightseeing in the city. It's not large and fancy like a higher priced hotel nor does it have questionable safety/quality like many other budget hotels in the Jersey City area. The neighborhood borders a renovated business district so it appears to be a relatively safe neighborhood. We did not venture out late at night however so I don't know how it is at that time of day. There is a police presence in the area because of the tunnel so it felt very secure. We did not see any shady characters in the area at all during our stay but be careful driving around the city as there are several slum areas in Jersey City that may be more risky.

One thing to note: it can be tricky to find the Holland Tunnel and the hotel if you are unfamiliar with the city and streets. Look at a map ahead of time so you will be certain of the route to the hotel. We made a mistake and ended up driving into a Jersey City slum area. Luckily a young couple we asked for directions drove their car, with us following, directly to the hotel. Also, be aware that you have to be on the right side of the road to enter the hotel parking lot. If you are in the other lanes you will be forced into the Holland Tunnel.

All in all a good experience. Thank you Holland Motor Lodge staff for a fun stay!

Hi
We stayed at this hotel with a group of 12 including 6 adults and 6 children. What a great places. It is not the Ritz but what you get for a cheap sleep in New York is fantastic, The rooms are clean and a good size. The people are friendly and helpfull. Do not be put of by the glass partition in the reception area or the area around the hotel. It is very safe. The walk to the sub way about 10 min's. Big shopping centre close by. The breakfast is great. All you can eat of donuts, cereal, juice, fruit, tea coffee. Excellent. Best donuts I have tasted. Well done to the Holland I will be back again and would recommend anyone to stay there.

We know Jersey City fairly well so we were not put off by staying here for our latest visit to New York. It may not be in the middle of Manhattan but it's only a 5 minute walk to the Path Train and another 10 minutes to the first stop in Lower Manahattan, Christopher Street. The Path goes all the way up to 33rd street so in fact the motel location is ideal. The room was big, comfy, and clean and you even get a micro-wave and a fridge. For only $81 a night (End of April 09) - a complimentary breakfast is also included - a counter full the brim with donuts, bagels, muffins...as well as cereals, fruit and hot coffee and tea. You simply took it up to your room which I prefer anyway. Staff are great and very helpful. If you do stay here, make sure you pick up a map of the area, and jump on the light rail to Hoboken - 5 mins away for some great bars and restaurants. Perfect accommodation for a city break!
