“Really nice climbing structures, very little shade, and no sprinklers!”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

Last summer we headed to Liberty State Park after having spent an afternoon in Liberty Science Center. We figured it would be a perfect end to the day. We got there and were quite surprised that there was very little shade and no sprinklers! It was a very hot day and we had to leave after only a short time because the heat was getting to us. The climbing structures were cool and different, but considering that our area gets pretty hot over the summer, I was quite disapointed that the playground was not built with that in mind.
If I would return here it would have to be in the spring or fall when the weather is mild.

“Great Place”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

We opted to take the Statue of Liberty cruise from here rather than from Battery Park in NYC. By far this was our best decision on this trip. We arrived early afternoon and loved seeing the old train station, the NJ 911 Memorial to their residents who perished that day and the beautiful Manhattan skyline. A beautiful place to walk or sit and watch the harbor traffic or view Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The cruises are not as full leaving from this side and made for a very pleasant and uncrowded cruise.

“Excellent views of the Manhattan skyline”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Liberty State Park overlooks the Hudson River and provides outstanding views of the NYC skyline. There are panoramic views of Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty (from the back), and the Freedom Tower as well as lower Manhattan. There are paths for walking, jogging, or biking and plenty of benches for those who prefer to just gaze. Many boats and cruise ships pass by; the view is especially lovely at sunset casting a golden glow on the Manhattan buildings providing a perfect backdrop for photographers. The park has plenty of open space and is well maintained. Pack a light meal and enjoy a picnic with a magnificent view. Family retreat or couples getaway. All will enjoy a day spent here. At certain times, the park also hosts concerts and other special events.

“Spectacular views of the river and NYC skyline”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Liberty State Park has quite a lot to offer. As soon as you enter you can take a seat on a bench and look out on the water and watch the boats pass by. From sail boats, to barges, and cruise ships...all sorts of vessels will pass you by. People will get close to the waters and spend the day relaxing and fishing.

Walking more into the grounds there is a visitors center with bathrooms and picnic grounds nestled in the shade of the trees. Flagpoles seemingly the size of skyscrapers proudly wave the stars and strikes around a soldier's memorial as you walk towards the boardwalk that runs along the water providing panoramic views of the bridges, NYC skyline including the Freedom Tower and the Statue of Liberty.

Kids are running and playing, people are jogging and riding their bikes, pets have their noises pointed up to the air taking in all the scents, people fishing off the peer, as you stroll along the path cooled by the breeze coming off the water.

There are large open grass areas for people to play and wedding/engagement photos being taken. The grounds are open for events and other such things.

As you reach the end of the boardwalk you can hop onto a statue tour boat and you'll be sad you can't continue your walk along the NYC skyline.

“Awesome, must see. I went to visit and see the Statue of Liberty”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

I had nothing to do over the weekend, so I decided to see the Statue of Liberty, I also went to the waterfront and see the boats, and the 911 memorial, it is called empty sky's. It has the names of all people lost on 911 from NJ. Really nice to visit and see. The NYC skyline is the best to see from here. You can see the entire skyline from this vantage point. I can not wait to bring my finance to see this place. She will be here soon.
