This past Memorial Day I visited Liberty State Park in Jersey City. It is an amazing location steeped in history of early settlers, 19th century commerce, commuter rail lines, a rear view of the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island; a gorgeous view of lower Manhattan, and now is home to a memorial listing the names of victims from the terror attacks on September 11, 2001. The park was beautifully set up yet requires some reconstruction of the former Central Railroad of NJ terminal at the old ferry dock due to damage inflicted by tropical storm Sandy. It is a jewel to be treasured in Jersey City. It is also accessible to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island Ferry and is next to a marina.
