The outside is not much to see. In fact, you would drive by this place if you were not specifically looking for it. Being the sister restaurant of Water &Wine in Watchung, you know you are in for a nice dining experience.
Once you enter, the look and feel immediately take you in. The menu is much like W&W, but the bar, and dining area is about half the size. This actually makes this quite charming compared to the other eatery.
The mussels app were plum and cooked perfectly, not overdone. The Cesar salad was a bit on the thicker side, like I prefer. Some "authentic" Italian restaurants keep their Cesar dressing on the thin side, and you wouldn't even know it was on the salad.
The diver scallops were delicious, but there were 4 for $ 28. The risotto was perfect. The zuppa di pesce was quite large, and varied. Lobster, scallops, clams, shrimp, etc. Large portion, and fabulous. Best dish on the menu.
I must say dessert was a total letdown. We had chosen the Caramel Rum Carrot Cake, but our waiter suggested the chocolate peanut butter dome, a house specialty, so we went with his suggestion. When it came out, it was squooshed down, and didn't mix well. The dessert was 3 different ingredients that were not prepared right for each other into one dish. I am not sure what they were going for, but it wasn't working. The cuppaccino's were excellent!
Great dining experience, with a price to match. For me, it is a special occasion restaurant, but worth it.
Tips for my followers:
The drinks are extremely pricey, so be careful.
All the dishes are prepared with care and class, so be adventurous and try something different.
The valet parking is small, so if you feel more comfortable, park across the street at one of the store parking lots after hours.
