“High End Dining Experience for a High End Price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

The outside is not much to see. In fact, you would drive by this place if you were not specifically looking for it. Being the sister restaurant of Water &Wine in Watchung, you know you are in for a nice dining experience.

Once you enter, the look and feel immediately take you in. The menu is much like W&W, but the bar, and dining area is about half the size. This actually makes this quite charming compared to the other eatery.

The mussels app were plum and cooked perfectly, not overdone. The Cesar salad was a bit on the thicker side, like I prefer. Some "authentic" Italian restaurants keep their Cesar dressing on the thin side, and you wouldn't even know it was on the salad.

The diver scallops were delicious, but there were 4 for $ 28. The risotto was perfect. The zuppa di pesce was quite large, and varied. Lobster, scallops, clams, shrimp, etc. Large portion, and fabulous. Best dish on the menu.

I must say dessert was a total letdown. We had chosen the Caramel Rum Carrot Cake, but our waiter suggested the chocolate peanut butter dome, a house specialty, so we went with his suggestion. When it came out, it was squooshed down, and didn't mix well. The dessert was 3 different ingredients that were not prepared right for each other into one dish. I am not sure what they were going for, but it wasn't working. The cuppaccino's were excellent!

Great dining experience, with a price to match. For me, it is a special occasion restaurant, but worth it.

Tips for my followers:

The drinks are extremely pricey, so be careful.
All the dishes are prepared with care and class, so be adventurous and try something different.
The valet parking is small, so if you feel more comfortable, park across the street at one of the store parking lots after hours.

“Upscale on the Boulevard”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014

We went with friends and this is their favorite restaurant. The oysters were spectacular, but the ahi tartare had a different taste, some seasoning just wasn't right. Our entrees consisted of short ribs, steak, soft shelled crabs and grouper. All were excellent with the fish exceptionally standing out. Service was good and the bar scene was jumping. The wine list is extensive and expensive. Overall the atmosphere is great, but it is expensive.

Outrageously priced! Mediocre food .. Rude service!Waited 40 minutes.. Food came out cold... Sent it back .. Food came out singed black!!! Dried out. Asked for manager who was FAR from pleasant... Offered NOTHING for our inconvenience! You'd do better eating take out from a good pizza place. Skip it!

“Snapper is marvelous ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 January 2014 via mobile

My girlfriend and I went here last night. Her pork chop was very good, a bit spicy and a bit dry. My lightly breaded snapper over a bed of spinach was truly mouth watering, though! The salad with nuts and cheese was also delicious as was the chocolate cake. It was our second time there, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Not cheap though--with a drink for each of us, cappuccino and two prix fixes the tab was $110.
