sushi was very good but i can't go back until they clean. Carpet has been there FOREVER and there was food splatter ALL over the wall behind our hibachi table. Yuk! really needs an overhaul.

Our family eats here regularly because the food is dependably good, there's enough variety on the menu to keep everyone happy, and the price is right. And I like that it has a different astethic, being in an old house, than the usual modern, spare sushi restaurant. The sushi bar and main dining room are downstairs and smaller rooms with grills are upstairs. The downstairs room in particular can become rather loud. You'll need to bring your own beer or wine, but we like this -- it keeps the price down -- and the selection at the liquor store across the street is far better than you'd have on a wine list! We like the sushi specials when we're not in the mood to pick individual pieces; good variety and nothing off-putting to a less adventurous sushi eater. If you make a reservation in a grill room upstairs, your food will be cooked in front of you (a la benihana). Unless you have enough people to fill a room, you're likely to dine with strangers. This can be alright if you're in the mood, but we've been there with a few kids and had a couple on romantic date seated with us, and the vibe hasn't been the same for all parties... the upstairs rooms have always been a hit with the kids, who like all the fire and drama (and a reason to argue that sometimes, it's okay to play with your food!) We have usually been able to walk in during the week without a reservation, but this place gets busy, so I'd recommend that you call ahead. The service is efficient but a little shrill.

Always fresh sushi and friendly staff. Try the Hibachi style cooking upstairs for some family dining fun. BYOB! Enjoy!

We remember that the food here was better several years ago, but now it's just acceptable. Non-sushi-grade rice, "watery" fish (if you know what I mean), a hyper-sweet (kabayaki?) sauce on the mackerel, miso soup that was worse than some store mixes, etc. Plus the interior definitely needs a refresh.

Great specials, very busy, fresh seafood. Casual, can also do takeout. Call for reservations on the weekend.
