Owner description: A professional non-profit boutique theater located a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in Long Branch, NJ. NJ Rep is committed to developing and producing new plays and returning to the basics where text is paramount so as to make a contribution to the repertoire of the American stage.

NJ Rep brings new plays to the Jersey Shore. The plays are always interesting-- some times humorous, some times high drama; always entertaining . The theater itself is an intimate setting and the staging is always top notch. They also offer readings on some Mondays. Located on Broadway in Long Branch, you can often catch a Broadway NYC caliber play at significant $ savings.

NJ Rep does so much with a very small space. Their shows are all premiers and often go on to NYC and all over the world. I have never been disappointed here.

This small theater puts on original plays that are very good. The actors are professional and the set design excellent.

We had a wonderful time at this theater. There are only about 7 rows of 10 seats, so you are really close in any seat. I call it "in your face theater." They are a breeding ground for new plays, and also have script readings on Monday nights, when you can see the reading and give feedback (if you desire) at the end of the reading. The playwright is usually there to listen and respond. It is my favorite part of being a subscriber.
There is also a 'homey feel' to this theater that I have never felt at any other theater, and I have been to many in NY, NJ, and AZ. Often you can meet and talk with the actors after the show. The couple who own and run the theater make everyone feel welcome.
Truly a place to belong, and come to enjoy theater.

If you are looking for a fun night out by enjoying a live performance by professional actors, this is the place to go. After my first visit, I immediately became a subscriber. The theater is small and the audience is steps away from the stage. Up close and personal. The shows are first produced at this wonderful venue. It is like the AAA baseball clubs. If it works here, they may go on to larger venues. Do not mistake this try-out for the lack of professionalism. The set designs and the performance are 100%. The current subscription rate is only $180 for the year. And this is for 6 shows!
