I have been a fan of Tacconelli's since my days traveling to Fishtown. I was excited to learn that they have another location near the Moorestown Mall. However, there always was a wait there. Now that they have moved to Maple Shade, they must have quadrupled their seating area. A huge plus.
We had the pleasure of dining in on Sunday at the new location. The atmosphere was very comfortable, the waitress super friendly and the pizza was perfect. There was no wait to be seated and a very acceptable wait for the pizza. The salad was just fair. Maybe next time, I will try one of their pasta dishes from the newly expanded menu.

After waiting several weeks for the curiosity crowds to subside, we gave it a try. We ordered a plain pizza. The first surprise was a pizza with about $2 worth of ingredients: thin crust, minimal sauce and cheese. The sauce was good there just wasn't much of it. The profit margin on this pie must be incredible. After asking for grated cheese (this is an Italian restaurant right? Should be as common as sugar at Star$$), we were told they do not have grated cheese. The owners do not want you to "ruin their meals". "Really??", I asked the waitress. She wasn't kidding. The pasta selections were very, very limited compared to Vincent's Brick Oven Pizza across the street and other places in the vicinity. They also do not take credit cards which even the hot dog stand I go to does. It's is 2014 after all. Instead you are cleverly redirected to an on-site ATM which has a surcharge. Someone certainly put some thought into this. The girls, however, are very nice. I just wonder how much the owners pay them to post the 5-star review on here. Change a few things and you may have a successful restaurant. Probably will NOT be back. Not what we expected from all the hype.

Visited the new location. May or may not be back; don't understand the hype. No one in our party liked the Signature pizza (white w/ spinach and tomato). Just did not taste good. Pepperoni pizza was pretty decent, but I like Bertuccis better. Service was a bit below average I thought. Had to ask for a lot of extra things that you shouldn't have to ask for, like more ice in the glasses and extra napkins. Layout inside is very bizarre. And how can you not have booster seats for little ones??

The two brothers have split and alas the tyranny has ended on the Port Richmond site. This site now located on the main strip in Maple Shade is here to stay. Opening week has produced a lovely restaurant with a really good brick oven pizza. The menu continues to have a great variety of pizza choices. Topping choices are clearly laid out and prices are easily noted unlike the Philadelphia original. There is a quattro fromaggio pie which was something new. It was very tasty. Instead of the two topping suggestion for the pies in Philadelphia here you can add three. The crusts are a little thicker here. To some it may be a deal breaker but half of our party thought it was too thick. You can have a choice of several salads. The Caesar salad large was enough to serve 5 people. It was fresh and tasty. There are some pastas and a sandwich as well. Parking is ample in the back. Cash only and byob. It's worth the toll. The service was very prompt. The site is elegant and seating is spacious. It's our new go to. Jersey side wins.

Much anticipated Tacconelli's opening on Main Street in Maple Shade. After waiting, we get our burnt pizza. When I asked the waitress what the deal is with burnt basil, she said that it's because the crust is thin and if you don't like it that way you need to ask that they add the basil after the pizza comes out of the oven. Really? Thank goodness they aren't the only act in town.
