We arrived at Glenegedale by accident and to say we were bowled over would be an understatement. We arrived late on and were treated very well as soon as we opened the door. Emma asked if we were first timers on the island and when we said yes and she gave us a broad range of books on island heritage and need to know info without hesitation. This was invaluable as we navigated the southern section of the isle.
We were also welcomed with our favourite tea and homemade shortbread and instantly felt at home. The attention to detail in this beautiful residence I have only experienced once before in gleneagles resort. The toiletries were all white company and the towels were supersoft.
Each detail even down to the teaspoons were of such a high quality. I haven't even mentioned the breakfast yet. Graeme an Emma really should open a cafe or eatery as the combination of his breakfast and her homemade pastries and cakes kept me a very happy bunny all day long.

On a separate non food related note they quite happily called everywhere we had planned on visiting that day and booked us to ensure we didn't miss out. This is great as we plan nothing normally and really helped our day. Their knowledge of the island and their general manner deserves applause. I have never written such a long review as I have never been so moved to do so. Even staying at gleneagles you expect a certain level of service and you pay for it.
This was above an beyond! What they charge and what they offer don't match. In a good way :)

If you do one thing on Isla. Please stay here. You will not regret it.

What on earth can I say to this!!!! WHAT AN AMAZING REVIEW!

Thank you so very much indeed. Graeme and I were delighted to have you the first night by chance and happy to help find alternative accommodation for the following night when we were already fully booked and even more delighted to hear your voice when you asked if we still have availability the last night and we had one room left.

You were gems to have in the house and so appreciative of everything we did for you. Next time I hope to be able to send you to do some of the other activities the island has to offer like kayaking round all the distilleries or a wildlife boat trip to see the seals up so incredibly close.

Jennie it was lovely to meet you and hear through Graeme about your Mums bed and breakfast and Matthew - I loved seeing you enjoy the shortbread and the cakes - and truly if I had known you were coming I really would have baked you a cake to have with your decaf tea on arrival!

We both hope to see you make the journey across to Islay again soon and hope to be able to make sure you have a fabulous time next time you stay.

Haste ye back to Glenegedale House

We could not recommend Glenegedale House enough! As soon as we arrived we were shown to our room which was beautifully decorated. We are a married couple and they only had a twin room available (we booked very last minute) but don't let that stop you if you're thinking of going! We had the most wonderful experience. Once our bags were unloaded we were treated to afternoon tea - after a very long journey this was more than welcome. It was so delicious - Emma is an amazing baker! Graeme and Emma could not be happier that we were there, we felt so loved from the moment we got there.
One of them were always around to help if needed, Emma was full of recommendations and very happy to book things for us. Every place we went that they recommended was spot on! We enjoyed everything.
Breakfast was one of our favourite things about our getaway to Islay. We couldn't wait to get up in the mornings! There was a buffet of cereals, fruits, yoghurts, toast, juices, etc then you could also have porridge and/or a big cooked breakfast complete with haggis! Everything was served on beautiful china. Emma always had baked goods too like banana bread, muffins, scones which if you didn't eat at breakfast you could take with you in a little picnic basket they prepared for your day ahead with a flask of hot water, a selection of teas and coffees and treats!
On our last day we had to leave very early before breakfast to catch our ferry home (very sad!) but Emma had prepared us a big box of breakfast goodies to take with us! It was such a treat!

Emma did everything she could to make our stay as amazing as possible, for example, one day we wanted to do the beach pony trek which we decided literally an hour or so before the next trek was going out; Emma did all she could to get us on it with great success and it was one of the most memorable days we had!

Don't even consider staying anywhere else on Islay! You will LOVE Graeme and Emma and they will treat you like family!

We will definitely be back! Thank you for such a special and memorable time!

Sam and Katie, thank you so much indeed for writing such an amazing review. I cannot say often enough how much Graeme and I truly appreciate the time and effort it takes for people to do this.

You were both a delight to have in the house and it was no trouble at all to organise the booking of the horse riding. We were just so glad to hear how much you enjoyed it. A pony trek along the beach is one thing on a lot of peoples bucket list that is such a beautiful experience especially in the sunshine that we were blessed in having when you were here and still. We had a group of guests yesterday that we managed to book a wildlife trip by boat round the island for an hour and a half for an amazing rate and they had beautiful sunshine and a fabulous time - I thought of you and was also thinking you would enjoy this - Next time!

Katie you will need to bring your Mum so she can sample the island and a few cakey treats.

We hope to see the two of you back at Glenegedale House very soon

Haste ye back

We have only just gotten back from a 3 night stay at Glenegedale and I really can't speak highly enough of the hospitality shown to us by Emma and Graham... The attention to detail is incredible, from all of the beautifully polished silver throught the house to the absolutely scrumptious home bakes which greeted us at breakfast each morning! As for Emma and Graham they quite simply are the best hosts you could ever ask for, so kind, friendly, welcoming and helpful... They really are a shining example of the best Scottish hospitality has to offer and I'm already looking forward to seeing them again soon!

Michael

Thank you so very much indeed for taking the time to write such a glowing review for us here at Glenegedale House. It was an absolute pleasure to have you in the house and only wished you felt 100% so you could enjoy your time more.

Graeme and I love what we are doing and that in itself makes it easier especially when we get such lovely guests.

The home baking seems to be a hit and I would have never thought that is what would enhance our guest house as much however I love trying new recipies to make it special and keep it interesting and it makes us both very happy to hear people like your selves have enjoyed it so much. Hopefully we will see you back here very soon indeed.

Haste ye back

Kind regards

Emma

In front of the airport and not far from the Port, excellent situation
We really recommend it!

Thank you Emma & Graeme for such a lovely weekend on Islay. Your B&B is so comfortable and cosy and you were both very welcoming and knowledgeable. Loved the home baking and all the beautiful china that it was served on. Will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Room 1 a tad too cosy for two people and the entrance to the small shower room very tight. The twin...

Thank you for leaving such a wonderful review on our trip advisor page. It is always appreciated when a guest takes time out of a busy schedule and writes a review.

We are delighted you enjoyed your time even though Iain had some work to do. I very much look forward to being sent Jonathans chocolate and orange cake recipe so I can have a go at that one. Perhaps for the next time you visit hopefully also with your other son too.

Emma and Graham were the perfect hosts - warm, friendly, and helpful, without being overly chatty. Their B&B is visually appealing, situated across from the airport (but not noisy as there are only 2-4 flights a day to Islay) in the remote beauty of Islay. The bedrooms have recently been redone and are luxurious - plush comforters with heated sheets and great mattresses. The bathrooms are modern and clean. The best part is their award-winning breakfast which includes 3 courses (fruit, yogurt, cereal, and scones; porridge; full hot Scottish breakfast). I would highly recommend staying here and it is worth the splurge.

Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting your family and Cameron in particular loved hearing tips to improve and grow our vegetable garden, he is still working out a translation for some of the products.

I hope you enjoyed your time island hopping after visiting Islay and managed to experience your different type of accommodation the following night. I bet you have a wonderful time.

Thank you again for leaving such a wonderful review and to take time to talk over the garden with our son.

We all look forward to you returning to Islay and Glenegedale House one day in the near future.
