“Fantastic food, atmosphere and did I mention vegan?”

Trend Coffee & Tea House
Ranked #1 of 7 Coffee & Tea in Montclair
Restaurant details

I was in Montclair to bring my daughter to an event and was planning on sampling various restaurants and locales. But we started at Trend and kept going back over and over and ended up staying the day in its lovely and relaxing ambiance. First the restaurant itself is so inviting and relaxing with hideaway areas for groups to sit at couches and chairs for accessing the free wifi and enjoying your tea or coffee. But you much have some of the homemade bakery or breakfast items which just happen to include vegan and gluten-free selections.

I started the day with a coffee and "fig newton" pastry. Oh my word. Flaky and flavorful, the fig newtown wasn't too sweet but the coconut on top just gave it an incredible taste. Returning for lunch, more coffee and seating at one of the high tables in the front to enjoy our quiche. The vegan spinach and mushroom quiche was absolutely delicious. Finally back again for late afternoon but seating in the back half of the restaurant delighted to find more conversation areas and notice that the location has live music as well! What a find in Montclair! We ended with the Kale soup and salads. The kale soup was rich and robust and sincerely the first time I've ever had anything so tasty.

Simply have to experience Trend. Every single item is made on the premises and you'll find so many options for every palate. Don't let the "coffee and tea" fool you but this has spectacular food also (although the coffee and chai latte are great too!)

Friday night regular visits with my wife. Live music, cafe atmosphere. Not crowded during the day. Great place to chill out in the center of Montclair. Yummy homemade vegan desserts!

I came in with a friend for a crepe and coffee while visiting Montclair. The coffeehouse is perfectly furnished with small sofas and armchairs. If you visit when it isn't too crowded, as we did, it feels a lot like having tea at a five star hotel. Our friendly Macedonian hostess made a delicious chocolate banana and almond crepe. This is a nice, friendly, comfortable cafe. The coffee could be a bit hotter, but I would certainly come back.

When you walk in, the first thing you see is a display counter filled with all sorts of baked goods. Cookies, pies, cakes, several types of quiche, as well as flavored coffees and teas. Several gluten free baked selections and fresh deli sandwiches are also available. The owner is very often found behind the counter preparing fruit to be used in the pies. The difference between having baked goods from commercial bakeries brought in and made from scratch, by hand, daily is like going from a black and white TV to a flat screen HDTV. Yeah. It's that dramatic.

The place has local art on display, up beat music piped in (live music on select evenings), and bunches of comfy chairs and sofas paired with coffee tables and free Wi-Fi.

Not to be missed is the hot berry pie topped with vanilla ice cream. Try this with chocolate raspberry coffee if you dare.....
