I was in Montclair to bring my daughter to an event and was planning on sampling various restaurants and locales. But we started at Trend and kept going back over and over and ended up staying the day in its lovely and relaxing ambiance. First the restaurant itself is so inviting and relaxing with hideaway areas for groups to sit at couches and chairs for accessing the free wifi and enjoying your tea or coffee. But you much have some of the homemade bakery or breakfast items which just happen to include vegan and gluten-free selections.
I started the day with a coffee and "fig newton" pastry. Oh my word. Flaky and flavorful, the fig newtown wasn't too sweet but the coconut on top just gave it an incredible taste. Returning for lunch, more coffee and seating at one of the high tables in the front to enjoy our quiche. The vegan spinach and mushroom quiche was absolutely delicious. Finally back again for late afternoon but seating in the back half of the restaurant delighted to find more conversation areas and notice that the location has live music as well! What a find in Montclair! We ended with the Kale soup and salads. The kale soup was rich and robust and sincerely the first time I've ever had anything so tasty.
Simply have to experience Trend. Every single item is made on the premises and you'll find so many options for every palate. Don't let the "coffee and tea" fool you but this has spectacular food also (although the coffee and chai latte are great too!)
