Description: "The atmosphere of Fascino, with its minimalist cream and deep red decor, borders on stark but not casual. The complexity's in the entrees, where flavors, scents and textures fuse seamlessly. Puree of kobacha squash soup with oregano crema and hazelnut oil wins the intriguing appetizer award, and the paper-thin sheets of beef carpaccio with truffle oil and petite salad are a beef purist's dream. Pastas, risottos and raviolis are all available as appetizers or main courses, but the duck breast with confit cannelloni and black fig compote or pine nut-crusted codfish might be hard to pass up." -- Mike Hess, AOL Digital City

We had eaten at Fascino a while back and enjoyed it back then. We returned at the suggestion of our friends who wanted to try it. We were greeted at the door by one of the owners and our service continued to be top notch though out the evening. As a welcoming, were served an amuse bouche of a mini arancini that was exquisite.
Appetizer's -they have home made pastas-we tried the ricotta gnocchi - they were ethereal. We also tried a bite of our friends ravioli of the day which was stuffed with mushrooms. The chef definitely knows his pasta. As a side order - we shared mascarpone polenta fries with a Gorgonzola fonduta- excellent . On a trivia note , the owner informed us that these fries had been selected as a "must try food " when visiting NJ by Maxim magazine.
Entrees- my husband and I had the barramundi fish over a parmigiana spaetzle . It was one of the better fish dishes we have had. Great presentation and flavors. For the finally, we shared a pistachio praline bread pudding. It was a good ending to a wonderful culinary experience. I think we should eat here more often.

Fascino consistently has excellent food. Service is on the mark. Share the mascarpone polenta fries in gorgonzola dip. Too good!!! Ravioli of the day always great. Cannot lose with any pasta. My favorite main dishes are the skate and the barramundi. It's a BYOB, so bring a good bottle of wine to pair with an outstanding meal!

They do everything right here -- handling reservations, courteous service, pleasant romantic setting, enjoyable food. If there's a negative here, it's a small one, in that the food, while quite good, is a bit predictable and less interesting than some comparable restaurants, but Italian restaurants tend to be a bit predictable and traditional generally in what they serve. This restaurant has a nice "special occasion" feel about it, lovely for birthdays, anniversaries and such. This is sophisticated Italian food, not a red sauce joint. Very close to the Wellmont Theatre, so very nice if you're catching a performance, though you may also need a little extra time to park.

After reading both good and bad reviews, I was tentative when making this reservation. Met a friend in Newark for dinner and we really wanted a BYO so we could enjoy our own wines.
Nice atmosphere and decor..Food was great and service was exceptional. We had the grilled octopus salad and the hearts of romain salad. Great plate presentation. Then split the gnocci with wild boar ragu and the orecchiate with roasted cauliflower, terrific! Gnocci melted in your mouth. Dinner was the Australiance Barramundi for me and the Halibut for my friend, with a side of the polenta fries. Glad there were not alot of those fries or they would have had to roll me out!! Dessert was the chcoloate pudding thing...went great with our red Zinfandel..

All in all, GO! I wish I lived closer...
