This is a great place to unwind with an afternoon or evening walk. The garden presents wonderful living art when the flowers are in bloom, during the fall the changing colors are beautiful. Lots of places to take beautiful pictures and just rest. The children will even love an afternoon exploring the trails, naming trees and flowers. Sit in a chair or bench and feel your creativity bloom through writings or drawings. Enjoy!

I absolutely love this place! I went to Rutgers and would frequently come here as a place to unwind and enjoy the scenery. Since you can just stop by and peruse around for any length of time and there is no fee, it's really perfect for the middle of any day. There are a ton of awesome photo ops if you're into that, or you can just walk around the flowers, veggies, giant chairs, river... Bring your lunch, your camera, your significant other and enjoy nature!

Every time I visit Rutgers Gardens it seems they're amidst adding something new. I'm guessing it's a hidden gem because we never seem to encounter a crowd. The gardens are beautiful when they're in bloom and you could spend a nice afternoon walking along the living art and landscaping that the gardens present.

There is also some nature trails in the woods behind the gardens as well. The gardens are pet friendly.

Last night my wife and I were guests at a wedding reception held at the Rutgers Display Gardens and Log Cabin off Ryders Lane in New Brunswick. What a wonderful place for anyone into gardening! And it is truly a "hidden gem" that few seem to know about though it is mere seconds from Rt. 1, Rt 18 and downtown New Brunswick.

Throughout the year, the Rutgers Gardens are carefully tended and creatively displayed. While small scale compared to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania or the gardens at the Duke Estate off of Rt 206 south of Somerville, the Rutgers Gardens are a joy for gardeners, photographers, or anyone who wants to take a walk and enjoy a quiet getaway for a short while.

Back to the wedding reception, the weather was terrific, the crowd had a lot of fun dancing the night away, and the caterers did a fantastic job with delicious meal.

This place is a hidden gem. So beautiful and scenic. From the amazing bamboo Forrest which feels like you have been transported to another world to the flower beds, this place has it all. Great for shotting pictures and just a nice getaway from the city.
